No Snow...No Snow...
No Snow...

And a prepared cross-country ski course
I have been my last time in Oberstaufen... well, my last time for a while at least.

Prepare for Susan to be not much fun all year, coz I really have to save all my pennies - I really wanna come back here next year... If I had my way right now, I would spend the year learning German and doing little else... but that could be the leaving talking (well, writing)

So last weekend we had a great time down in the Algaeu. There was hardly any snow left after some bad weather since I had been there (which was before I went to France).

But it was so awesome to see Doris and Hugo again! I felt like I was getting home again! I love those guys, they are always so nice and so welcoming, and I always feel so bad that I can't talk better German... and with Anna too, who we caught up with for dinner - she seems super nice, and I can just smile and say very little, and that's about it...

I think this may be my last blog till I get home... maybe... well... maybe one more short one about dirty thursday...

It feels weird going home. It feels like I am home here. But I know I will be happy to be back in brisvegas once I get there - I really do miss everyone very much! and I really do need to share a lot of schnapps with Brendan - good work son!

During the week I went up to Karlsruhe for a couple of days to meet up with a new friend and also catch up with Nadia and Wolfgang. Nadia had the day off on Wednesday, and was nice enough to spend the day taking me on a tour of the city! She is so nice! We walked around the castle gardens, and all over town. Karlsruhe has a mammoth tram network - it's pretty cool to watch.

Anyway, after a very chilly morning wandering around the city, Nadia and I returned home to perform some operations... save some lives (they have a Wii... so cool! Uwe put them onto this game where you operate on people - it's toooo camp!) and made me fall in love with the Wii system, very fun!

After a bizarre power-out that lasted nearly an hour, we went to dinner at a nearby pub and Wolfgang joined us there. They are so super-nice!

And then...

This weekend just gone we went to Oberstaufen for the last time. Actually... it was snowing, and Warren and Christine took me to Nebelhorn down at Obersdorf (where the massive ski jumps are) and we went up to the top, and woo-hee was it snowing! They left me in the hut to go ski for an hour or so, but I looked up after only 5 minutes and they were back - the snow was so heavy they could only see like 5 metres in front of them, and their faces were bright pink from the snow hitting them.

So we sat and watched the snow bucket down... I thought it was pretty effing cool! I have never been in bucketing snow before - it was sweet... but it didn't make for the best skiing I guess... or the best view. Usually from Nebelhorn you see like a million mountain peaks - I saw... white.

But it was awesome.

By the time we headed to Oberstaufen it was nearly 3pm already, and I was so tired! I think the snow and the cold (I got a bit of a chill on the lifts) really buggered me! We went out to the Glashaus again at night and I had my last Boreck - sweet sweet Boreck... you will be made many a time in Brisbane!

In the morning we had a little sleep-in before my last brekkie with Hugo and Doris. It was sad to leave them... I was sad. I need to come back.

We traveled up to Munchen for the afternoon, to look around the town and also visit our relatives Jutta and Wolfgang. Munchen is a beautiful city! Just gorgeous! Quite tourist-y. We went to the oldest and most famous Bavarian Beer hall, and had a beer and a massive pretzel! and in town was another Faschings event... kids throwing confetti at everyone, and people wearing crazy wigs...

We caught the U-Bahn in and out of town, and they are so cool in Munchen. The whole underground system was built for the 72 Olympics, so they are uber-retro! All wood paneling and such... I felt like I was in the Brady house.

But yeah... home tomorrow.

I hope

I was googling Japanese proverbs to put in here and came across a few corkers before finding this one; If a man deceive me once, shame on him; if he deceive me twice, shame on me. Yes, yes, like the Leeanne Rhimes song.. or better than that - as borrowed by the ever brilliant wordsmith J W Bush.. But mostly that quote reminded me of my brother Warren who I spent my last summer holiday with, and who does a fraking fabulous impression of this Bush quote. Okay, so this year I am going to Japan for my holidays! Well, for a few wee... full info
