Auntie Jen, every days a school day isn't it, at least now you know that Lake Cönstance isn't in Italy, its actually in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. (Just to confuse you). So we arrived here safely the other day, not sure which one losing track of days a bit now. We found a camp site right on the lake so we swam to Austria (about 500 m). We've been up on a cable car which wasn't that great as you couldn't walk up any further but the views over the lake were lovely. We decided that as we are visiting so many lakes that an inflatable kayak would be useful and as we are under budget thought we could treat ourselves. Memorial Day weekend we decided to go to southern Germany to visit the Bodensee or Lake Constance, as it is also known. The Bodensee is a large lake, the 3rd largest in Europe, which borders Germany, Switzerland and a tiny portion of Austria. The lake is 40 miles long and 8 ½ miles wide. Bodensee loosely translates to “bottom lake” as it lies at the bottom of Germany. We stayed at a very nice gasthof (hotel) in Neuravensburg, Hotel Landgasthof Mohren, just a few miles north of the Bodensee. What was nice about the hotel was that it had an indoor pool and sauna, although I never did get the sauna to work correctly.
