Day 18 - Sunday 1st January

A guided bus tour helped the group learn their way around Paris today. We had time to see the magnificent stained glass windows and marble carvings of the gothic Notre Dame Cathedral. While we were there, there was a service being held so we heard the sound of the pipe organ and the choral singers reverberate around the ancient walls.

We then ascended the Eiffel Tower. Some went just to the first floor, while most of the group travelled all the way to the top of the tower for a 360 degree view of Paris. Most travellers could not believe that the tower is big enough to house restaurants, shops and even an ice skating rink on the first floor.

This was followed by a cruise of the River Seine. Some walked to the Trocadero for another bird’s eye view of the Eiffel Tower.
