We arrived in Paris early on the 21st. We had no reservations, wanting to be spontaneous. We got a tip from a gal on the plane for a nice, inexpensive hotel that still had rooms available and was close to the Arc de Triomphe. Great, we would head that way. Traveling just with backpacks we left the airport via train to the metro. We came out from underground into Paris!! We were exhausted and it was raining. Cold, wet and tired we navigated the streets of Paris quite poorly!! Lots of wrong turns. We eventually reached the hotel. No rooms. "No rooms in Paris" we were told. We sat down in the lobby to regroup. We were dripping wet. The staff wanting to get rid of us kindly sent us to the tourist office. We were told we got the "Last room in Paris." They actually put a sign up informing other travelers that they could not help with finding lodging. After more poor navigating, still in the rain, we finally reached our hotel. We had been traveling for 24hours!!!

Most of the long day was washed away after getting some sleep. We had a fabulous day at the Louvre. I loved watching the girls go from one amazing piece of artwork to another. "Mom, dad, you have to see this!" Then, seeing the Eiffel Tower at night lit up in blue and purple and Madison exclaiming, "I never thought I'd live to see this." We also walked the Champs-Elysses, saw the Concorde, Madeleine, NotreDame and the Tuilieres gardens. Now it's off to Italy. Bonjour
