Hi all it is Dave´s turn for the blog. I think im a lot more mature than Zoe and won´t bag my travel partner for the whole blog. I will take the high road.

Well where to start? We finally made it to Bordeaux after a 10 hour bus trip to Paris and a 3 hour train ride down to Bordeaux to meet the parents - all worth it.

They had the car ready to go, very impressed. They even got a free upgrade which included a GPS. The life saver of the trip made it lot easier to find our way around without ripping each other heads off. The next day we were off to the biggest sand dune we have ever seen - massive. Too far to walk to the beach for my liking. Alot easier going down. Then off to a different beach for a swim, all this driving on the wrong side of the road is making hot. Probably one of the worst beaches i have ever swam at. The side wash was huge. Taking you from one side of the flags to the other in seconds. Dad and I thought we would go out

Dont think he knew who he was talking to. The number 1 body surfer
past the people drift down a couple of times. First time heard a whistle blown, didn´t think anything of it kept on drifting down no worries. Did it again heard a whistle again. Turned round and the life guard is waving his hands at dad and I. We just waved back doing the polite thing. Walking past the guard he called us over and started telling us off in french. He reckons we needed fins cause we were out too deep. Little did he know that we were or i am the number one body surfer in sandy point. He wasn´t to know that.

Off to la rochelle Where it all happened for mum. (the battler). Very nice place the third most visited place in france which we found out - very busy. Hired bikes where dad and mum could show off there skills, well dad could anyway. Mum was injured from her big fall on the balcony she had the day before. Went down big time even stayed down for a good 2 mins. Not funny at the time but very funny now. Rode around for a good 4 hours rode through the mariner. Dad dreamed of what

yacht he was going to buy. Tea was another saga for mum. She had her heart set on this cafe we walked past, very cheap. Well lets just say you get what you pay for, especially mum. Three courses: first mum got avocado. She loves avocado very shattered when it came out like a rock couldn´t eat it. The next course will be better don´t worry mum. Hamburger meat instead of steak - terrible. And don´t forget the half serving of fries to go with it. Ripped off. Final course looking very excited, we all had ours which were great. Out comes mums...a yoghurt in a tub still on the plate. Well that was it we all lost it burst out laughing. Don´t think the owner was too impressed.

Made it to paris after some great driving from yours truly. Invested in some snails, surprisingly we didn't mind them. Finally had a good dinner out, but paid for it, much to Bruce's delight. Went up the Eiffel Tower, climbed to the second floor mum wasn't far behind it in the end. Split up for a bit. Mum and Dad went to the sewer museum, don't think mum was real

keen but she was a trooper and went with it. We went to the catacombs where between 2 and 6 million bodies are buried. You walk past all the bones, it's weird. I know how to take Zo to all the best and romantic places in Paris.

Sorry about the lack of photos on the blog but it's taken 15 minutes to load three photos in this Madrid hostel and i'm over it. It's a joke. We have other good photos to put on of France so will do so in the next blog. Sorry again. And will do a blog on Spain and of course La Tomatina the big tomato fight when we get a chance and good internet connection.

Hope all is good back home!

Dave

good times
great to see you all having a fab time, but why is it that the Mums always seem to end up the brunt of the jokes. We can handle it though hey Deb? everyone looks fit and healthy there and all's well here with our weather improving slightly - a bit warmer at last. Look forward to the tomato fight pics.
