As always we had a beautiful stay in Paris. The weather was of and on some rain and sunny days. The first day was well spend. As good Australian citizens we decided to walk to the Australian Embassy to vote. Not a good idea. The voting okay but the walking not so. We made a big mistake in the distance. It looks on the map only a small walk but when we finally arrived at the Embassy we had walked 15 kilometres. We had to make a few stops for nature calls and coffees. It was a pity that after all this effort were told ,sorry you can't vote till Monday. The paperwork had not yet arrived. They gave us a paper stamped that we had been as proof. Very disappointed. We started the long walk back and opposite the Eifel tower we crossed the Seine and found a nice small café where we had a beautiful Pizza that tasted absolutely out of this world. Talking with people there we went for the Metro to take the easy way back to the Hotel. That was a splendid idea. We had to use the credit card to get tickets but it works well. We were well and truly stuffed and bought a few things to eat and stayed in our room and watched the soccer. We woke up by sounds of whistles and screaming, looking out the window we saw lots of Police and military personnel in the streets. Towards the Place the Republique we saw lots of people standing and talking. We had breakfast and made our way towards the place de Republique to see what is happening. At the statue we talked to a couple of black people that are refugees from Africa. They told us about the problems they face in their country. They just want to better their lives but that is impossible the way they want to do that. It has to be the legal way. We did a bit of window shopping before we went back and showered. We looked forward to a nice meal at a causy place. We been there before and had a pleasant reception. A nice table looking out on the Place de Republque. We had a beautiful steak with French fries and salad. To celebrate our last evening in Paris we had a marvellous apple dessert with sour cream. Liz talked to the chef and left one of the little koalas as memory. WE had an early night. Watched the soccer and turned in. Tomorrow we pick up the car and drive to Holland
