We arrived in Corsica in the morning and was greeted by the gorgeous sunshine 😊

We spent some time just relaxing a bit in the sunshine and then started to hitch towards Ponte Leccia where Jean's mate Ugh has a mate, Rolland who lives there. Jean said the worst time he had hitchhiking was waiting for 3 hours just outside Ploermel to get a ride...well today was going to beat that! We walked to the outskirts of Bastia and started to try hitch a ride to Ponte Leccia which is about 40km away. We waited to about 2 hrs before walking a bit and had spoken to some one who passed who said hitch hiking was possible in Corsica. At this new spot we waited about another hour or 2 before getting a ride from a cop who was off duty for about 10-15km. We then waited again for another hour, walked some more and waited for another hour before we walked to the roundabout which was the road to Ponte Leccia. After getting a text from Rolland at about 3pm wondering if we were ok he said if we weren't able to get there by 5pm he would come

pick us up. Luckily at about 4:30pm we were about to get a ride from a guy who was luckily headed to Ponte Leccia. So after about 7 hours on the road we made it the 40km to Ponte Leccia and met Rolland, who over the next few days would show us some of the absolutely stunning and amazing natural beauties of Corsica. This started with bringing us to his house which he is doing up slowly. This place is mindblowing...he is slowly doing up a beautiful old ? year old house build in the mountain slope about 15min by car from Ponte Leccia. His village has 2 people (including himself that live there year round) with up to 5 people in the summer! His house is about a 15 minute walk from the peak of the mountain which when you go up has 360 degree panoramic views of the area...which is just a stunning landscape of magestic mountains and beautiful valleys with gorgeous little villages dotted in the mountains! Needless to say it was a beautiful place to come to and a contrast to the crazy road that we had spent the day on to get there! We had

a beautiul BBQ dinner with Rolland and his partner Muriel and heard Rolland talk with great passion about this beautiful place which he had been living over the past 2.5 years.

After getting to Rolland's house after dark we were treated to the beauty of the place waking up the next morning. The views are absolutely amazing and captivating...its like the moment of magic you get when you reach the top of a peak...only it's were he lives...so this is what you get all the time!

The next few days we got to relax in the beauty of the mountains and explore some of the amazing mindblowing nature of northern Corsica! We went of a walk and saw this beautiful old bridge and a beautiful river with water so pure and natural! The colour of the stones in the river were all beautiful amazing and all different colours! The colours of the autumn trees in the mountains is absolutely stunning with a rainbow of colours highlighting the mountains and the valleys...reds, yellows, oranges, maroons, greens! We saw some beautiful vegetation, amazing old buildings/ruins, looked for chestnuts and mushrooms, enjoyed the beautiful sunshine and wondered amongst the cows in the mountain side...and all without seeing other people...its like you have the mountain side to yourself! We had a nice lunch enjoying the beautiful place we were in and then the boys decided it might be fun to head down and explore the river below! So we headed down and travelled down the river from bank to bank and discovered beautiful stones and the hypnotic water flowing down the river 😊 The next few days we checked out the amazing views of the mountain top close to the house...there are stunning 360 degree views of the mountains and valleys around, checked out this amazing old chappelle near by and went looking for arbouze fruit which jean made a yummy sauce that night. Another day Rolland took us to see the beautiful river in some different places and some amazing old bridges! We had a delicious lunch and then headed to the beach and enjoyed the beauty of Corsica being a small island and the luxury of having a amazing coast and beaches so slose to the amazing beautiful mountains! The waters of the beach was wow... amazing blue turqoise and stunning! There was a bit of cloud about so not

the walking bros
a great deal of sunshine but the water was still ok so we went for a swim in the beautiful waters of the meditterean and went for a walk along the coast side. We were lucky that afternoon to be treated to some paragliders who were filming some footage and saw one do some amazing loops in the sky and someone in a tandem pair parashute off onto the beach!

We said good bye to our beautiful and generous friend Rolland and Northern Cosica and headed to check out the south which we had heard was equally if not more stunning! We had decided to take the train as it was supposed to be a beautiful ride including one spot which goes over the mountains at over 1000m! The rain had decided to come out again, however the ride through the mountains and the beautiful towns was stunning with some amazing views of some mountains. We arrived in Ajaccio which is a quite a big town and we saw some huge cruise boats in the port. We took a bus that afternoon to a smaller town Sartene and then discovered all camping was closed this time of the year so based ourselves in the luxury of the town's only open hotel. We were planning to go on a 3 day walk through the beautiful park area in southern corsica, however we woke up to the rain and the predicted 110km/hr winds...and I chickened out...so we decided to try find some better weather and head south towards the ferry in Bonifacio. With the galing winds we took the bus towards Porto Vecchio and finally saw some blue sky and a beautiful huge rainbow 😊 We hitched a ride to Bonifacio and found the ferry this morning did not leave because of the winds. Bonifacio is a cute little town with some amazing cliffs by the sea. We walked around a bit and checked out the gorgeous little streets and alleys and almost got blown away checking out some of the walls of the city on the sea! The next day we woke and found the wind had died down a bit...we headed down to the ferry port in the morning and luckily found the ferry would be running today! We bought our tickets and then that morning said good bye to Corsica and France on the way to Sardenia, Italy!
