Kisbee Scooter was very excited when we woke up and told it it was going on a ferry trip across to Belle Ile en Mer. The island is clearly visible from Quiberon but is 14km and 45 minutes away. We were up and out of the Tandy by 8.30 and scootered down to Port Maria to catch the ferry. I was directed to the foot passenger queue while Bob and Kisbee shot up to the front of all the other waiting vehicles. The 9.30 am ferry is obviously a popular one as there were a lot of other people catching it. Bob was already settled on the top deck by the time I got through the queue as he and Kisbee had been first on. We had both taken fleeces against the cold but it wasn’t, ... read more

Set off at a leisurely pace again today as we’re in holiday chill mode. We went first of all to the ferry terminal in Quiberon centre and booked return tickets for tomorrow for 2 adults and a scooter to visit Belle Ile en Mer. Back on the scooter we rode along the Cote Sauvage, the western side of the peninsula. We stopped for coffee at Le Vivier, which we’ve walked to before from the aire a kilometre further along, and walked across the rocky outcrop, as everyone else was doing, just because it is there and because we could. We drove right along the coast stopping in a couple of places to stroll along the clifftops. Spotted two families of gulls with fluffy babies and wondered how many of the little balls of fluff fall to ... read more

No rush to get up today, we are on holiday after all and have been rushing about every day so far. Even so a little surprised to discover it was 10am when we woke – helped by our new radio controlled bedside clock which had decided it was back in the UK at only 9am even though it was definitely in France when I shut my eyes last night. Bob unloaded the scooter, I collected a baguette from the campsite shop and after breakfast we set out for a ride round the town. We’ve been to Quiberon twice before but have stayed on the aire which is on the Cote Sauvage up on the cliff tops and have never managed to stop in town before. It was a bit overcast when we went out so we ... read more

We had planned quite a long driving day today to get us down through Normandy to Fougères. This was plan B as original Plan A was Rennes but we had ditched that because we’ve done Rennes before but had forgotten. Last night it rained and rained and everywhere was pretty soaked but by the time we got up it had cleared up and blue sky was trying to break through. We were packed up and ready to leave by 9am, campsite was already paid so we set off in the general direction of South. Bob had spent quite a while the night before planning a non-motorway route. Clarissa Tomtom is a little too eager sometimes to take us down the main dual carriageways when the local main roads will do just as well, so Bob has ... read more

Time to move on. Nearly knocked another point off my campsite rating when I had to wait 10 minutes for someone to appear, with no apology, at reception so I could book out. Pointed out the date in the ACSI book when the services should close, not 4 days earlier as actually occurred, and got a very Gallic shrug in response. “C’est une erreur” she said, “as if I care” she undoubtedly muttered under her breath .. Even less impressed when Bob used the grey water dumping spot and damaged a trim on the bottom of the Tandy getting off it as it is very stupidly on a high ramp. We drove back across the marais and headed direction Vannes. At one point I spotted a name on the map I liked, La Roche Bernard, so ... read more
