Odense - Birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen
Published: September 8th 2010Europe » Denmark » Region Syddanmark » OdenseSaturday 4th September 2010 Today a short drive to Odense on the middle island of Denmark. In the afternoon we took a walk ( 2 miles ) into town to visit the Hans Christian Andersen museum and his childhood home. On the way we passed the local Odense brewery of Albani with a gigantic can advertising the beer. ... read more
Forventningsfulde piger :)
BLAST OFF: Denmark (Pre Bornholm)
Published: August 26th 2009Europe » Denmark » Region Syddanmark » OdenseDenmark - pre Bornholm 8/17 - 8/22 So we got our ride into the Center of Odense by Siva, who gave us each 200 kroner, and then went to the Library to try and find a place to stay. It didn’t take long at all actually. After only about 30 minutes of looking on CouchSurfing.com we got a response that we could stay at this wonderful chick Pia’s house. She lived about 4.4 kilometers (about 2 miles) away from where we were and welcomed us at anytime, even on such short notice. So cool! After the Library we headed to get some food with our 400 dkk. We really had no clue how much that was, even though it sounded like a lot to us. There was a little eating market place with a few restaurants, ... read more

So we called the bus station today and someone did drop off my wallet with everything inside. The cash, the visa, the debit...everything! I couldn't be more relieved. Only in Denmark I guess :) Today I spent the day working in the garden planting garlic for about 6 hours. The ecovillage asks that you work 6 hours a day, 6 days a week, in order to compensate for your room and board. Although it may seem like a lot, in return I not only stay for free but also learn the language, experience the culture and meet new people. It's a really enjoyable system. Tomorrow I will be doing some painting and repairing some fences. I hear the weather back home is fairly nice but here in Denmark the sky is grey from basically morning till ... read more
I'm currently visiting an ecovillage in central Denmark near the town of Hundstrup. Unfornately for me I believe (I can't be 100% sure) that I forgot my wallet on the bus when I switched busses about 2 km away from the town. Luckily for me I'm in the countryside so I will call the bus tomorrow and someone may have turned it in. Otherwise I will likely have to wait for a visa from Canada. Not to worry though, visa transactions have been stopped and at the most I lose around 200 in cash. It doesn't bother me all that much since I can just imagine losing the wallet in a much more precarious sitaution. In the ecovillage I simply work with my hands and pay absolutely nothing. I'm basically expense-free for the next two weeks. ... read more
