Day 1; Omis
Pax for dinner; 22 (BBQ onboard)
Everyone was thoroughly bonded by the time we even reached our first swimming stop, and I knew this would be a great group. When we arrived in Omis, I decided to postpone the fort walk until the next morning in order to bring Monica's group up too (they were late arriving in Omis, and Monica couldn't bring them herself with her hurt leg). So we all went to my favourite coffee shop for a drink, used the Internet, then came back to the boat for bbq and beers (and a Michael Jackson/Farrah Fawcett/Pirate part ). We went out to the bars for a few drinks that night too.
Day 2; Makarska
Pax for dinner; 22 (at Susvid)
Good dinner at Susvid, good time at Marineta bar, then a great night at Club Deep. Everyone loved partying in the cave and we stayed out dancing until 4am or so. That was my first time there, and I can see why it would be a major hit with all the pax because it's so different from anywhere else. And the best part of the night was that Gogo, the waiter from
Susvid, came to meet us there and he is a riot! (Simon is smiling and shaking his head right now as he reads this).
Day 3; Bol
Pax for dinner; 22 at Topolino, 10 at wine tasting
Bol was a fan favourite as always, and the wine tasting was a success once again. Vinko treats us really well there and everyone thought the 80 kunas was very well spent. We stayed there a few hours, then met the others at Topolino for a nice dinner. I take people to Topolino for dinner because of the live singer, even though I think the food is better at the winery; when I told Vinko that, he said he'd arrange our very own live singer next week, so stay tuned...
Day 4; Hvar
Pax for dinner; 19 (picnic)
We had another great stop at the Carpe Diem beach bar in the afternoon before heading to Hvar. The picnic was really good. Carpe Diem was the best I've ever seen it (with a live saxophone player and everything) and the bartender there has been really friendly and has started to give my group free shooters (but I wouldn't expect it everytime). We had a near disaster when one of my pax thought he'd paid his dinner bill in euros rather than kunas and we had to race back to the restaurant to double-check (probably not a bad thing to remind people to pay attention to their currency!). We got to Kiva bar by midnight, then half the group went to Café Sidro (around the corner from Kiva) for these big towers of beer (they cost 120 kunas for a tower big enough to share with a group... Not a bad option for beer-drinkers who are sick of cocktails). Back to Kiva until it closed and then we spent a few fun hours at Veneranda (although paying 50 kuna cover charge everytime kinda sucks). I love Hvar and it keeps getting better every week!
Day 5; Korcula
Pax for dinner; 22 (Caenazzo)
Poor Korcula... Everyone is always too shattered from Hvar to properly have a fun time there. But it's a great place to meander around lazily, and I've found a beautiful tea house (same owners as Gaudi club) where we can sit on comfy green couches for an hour before dinner. We had a nice treat at Caenazzo when a huge procession of traditional dancers came into the square and put on a performance. Massimo bar was cool (the waiter there, Dejan, has become much friendlier in the past few weeks, I think it's because the staff now have to wear Marco Polo costumes to work and there's no way he can be grouchy whilst wearing it!). Nik at Dos Locos was great as always and agreed to play me a few Canadian songs for Canada Day.
Day 6; Slano (with a 3-hr stop in Mljet en route)
Pax for dinner; 22 (Captain's Dinner)
Slano is definitely not as cute as Sipan, but it isn't a bad place to spend the 'penultimate' night of the tour. Captain's Dinner was really good and Mama had a few glasses of wine with us afterwards (and played a drinking game or two).
Day 7; Dubrovnik
Pax for dinner; 9 at Coloseum (the rest went kayaking)
We were able to go kayaking again today and I thought it was GREAT, as always, but my pax were a little hot and grouchy and didn't enjoy it as much as I thought they would. We did the wall walk from 1:30 to 3:00, then went to meet Dom for kayaking from 4 to 7:30. But it takes about 30 minutes to get to the meeting point, and it's a hot walk, and that's what broke all my pax. I think that the only way forward with these kayaking trips is to have someone pick us up from the Pile Gate, because then the group can chill out and recuperate for an hour or so between the wall walk and the kayaking.
The pax who went to Coloseum were happy with it, and then we went briefly to Mirage, then an Irish pub, and then home.
