Blog - start

Europe » Austria » Upper Austria » Steyr
So, this is the official start of my new travel-blog. I have absolutely no idea, what to write now ... hm, maybe I should describe, what this blog is intended for? Well, I started this blog, to keep all the friends and interested people up to date about my round-trip all over south-america. Therefore I was searching for an website, that allowes me to add tons of pictures, videos and such stuff and I don't have to worry about free space or costs. I finally found it at www.travelblog.org and up to now, I have to say, that I'm really impressed [View Full Entry]

Well, where should I start? Maybe at the beginning? Right. In the beginning, I created heaven and earth ... well, okay, that's maybe a little bit too far in the past ... No, earnest: 1.) personal-information My Name is Martin Temper and I was born on the 4th of July (hihi - no, November ;-) 1976 in "Vöcklabruck" (small "city" in Upper Austria / Austria / Europe / Earth / milky way). I went to school at "St. Georgen im Attergau", which is near the "Attersee" (biggest lake of Austria (fully located in Austria)). After primary an [View Full Entry]

Technician, as I am, I decided to make an excel-sheet, where I can rate the different countries of south america and by doing so, get a clue which countries to visit and in which order. The criteria I developed are as follows: * language (I do not speak Portuguese) * spoken, foreign language (English would be helpful) * risk of travelling (is the situation in the country stable?) * prescribed vaccinations * recommended vaccinations * risk of health (any serious infections, where there is no vaccination available?) * allowed duration of stay without visa * necessary period of validity [View Full Entry]

Jager Birthday Shots
Jager Birthday Shots
Shots at midnight while listening to the German Happy Birthday song for Steve.
Ah... Linz, Austria. May not look big on a map, may seem smaller than most cities we have visited, but it contained 3 of the best things in Europe. An awesome, awesome club, Steve's 25th Birthday, but above all... Sandra... my flatmate of 3 months in Bondi Beach, Australia (Sydney). Sandra was kind enough to let us stay with her, and what a place she has: 2 stories, a swimming pool and only 3 minutes from PlusCity (a massive shopping center/cinema/bar and restaurant complex). At only 20, she teaches Kindergarden kids English full time, teaches kids to figure skate on Sundays, [View Full Entry]

After Switzerland we drove back to Germany and the Barvarian Alps. We went to the castle Neuschwanstein which looked amazing but you will have to take our word for it as our photos of it have since dissappeared into the world of 0s and 1s! We drove through Munich (stopping in at octoberfest for a beer) to Berchtesgaden, a little part of Germany on the border with Austria and once home to members of the Nazi party and the famous kehlsteinhaus "Eagles Nest". The scenery around there was amazing although Anna would like to mention that the bus ride up to [View Full Entry]

Austria is Awesome

Steyr
This is an old building in the town of Steyr. The mural is beautiful.
So we took the train from Brussels to Frankfurt, then from there to Linz. We arrived in Linz on Saturday morning and Lukas was there to greet us. We then took another train to Molln, his hometown. His mother picked us up. We rested and had showers and such. Ham and cheese was for breakfast with bread. Then, we walked to the river and played cards. We had Tirolerknödel for lunch and it was good. Then there was cake and hot cocoa. We sang some Austrian and American songs with a guitar. Then, Lukas took us to Steyr which is a [View Full Entry]

Rainy lakes...

Fairy Tale land!!!
Fairy Tale land!!!
Its Obersee.....(another Obersee...) on the way to Hallstatt.....
I HATE RAINRAINRAINRAINRAINRAIN! ok, not the Korean singer nor the HK popstar... Was just planning to stay in Hallstatt, but since the weather was so bad, decided to go run through two lakes instead. Hallstatt, is this VERY TINY village that is listed in UNESCO....for its beauty? for, I got there, the train station is on the other side of the lake so I had to take a boat across. It was deserted! which was nice and peaceful but the rain really made the scenery not so nice... There are a few churches there, small and cute..haaa! The lake was beautiful, [View Full Entry]

30thSeptember - 1st October......Mauthausen via St Florian....... I went off the main R1 Danube Trail to visit the Augustinian Abbey at St Florian. St Florian was a Roman who converted to Christianity and was drowned in the Enns River. I know, I know....God works in mysterious ways. The church itself is full-on baroque from the 17C on a grand scale. Think Big. I found Mauthausen an interesting town and enjoyable to relax in. The old part is not large and looks pretty from the other side of the river where I was tucked in a deciduous forest. The trail swaps a [View Full Entry]
