I thought id dedicate a blog to my special day as it was just oh so special 😊 To start with i woke up on July 4th to find out we were leaving our hostel to stay somewhere else!! With no directions, and the word lighthouse on a key i was given i had to get us to where our new accomadation was! Lighthouse... where could that be?! We walked to the end of the island and this gorgeous hotel was on a dock on the water! it was beautiful, our room was bright and breezy, had a panoramic view of the bay, nicer and cleaner than home!!! it had a bath 😊 A/C 😊 a TV with english speaking channels and a hammock on the balcony! could i of asked for anything more!!! Steve informed me we were staying there 2 nights and there was even more surprises to come 😊 We made the most of the room that day staying cool and being lazy and then got ready for my birthday dinner and some drinks with friends that evening. We ate at a place called Bubalu that was on a dock on the water and had an aquarium in
the middle! We sat there and admired it whilst enjoying a fresh fish dinner and a lovely bottle of red wine! We then headed for the bars where we filled ourselves with numerous drinks and danced all night!
7am the next morning, it was my birthday and time to wake up, yes with quite a hangover. I woke up to yoga on our balcony, a bottle of Champagne and pressies to open 😊 Then... i got told to get ready where trousers and bring my bikini and that we needed to be out by the hotel for 9am.. where were we going??! We hopped on a 4x4 golf cart and headed out into the mainland, 5 minutes later we arrived at the horse stables to find out we were going a morning horse trek around the island! We saddled up and headed in to the jungle where our guide told us about numerous trees, animals and plants we spotted on our way. We first rode up to a place called Pumpkin Hill which is the highest point of the island, what an amazing view! Then after riding down we galloped over to the water edge, tied up the horse
and went for an adventure into the caves ! These caves you had to climb into, which were beautiful, nothing i have seen before. we changed into our swim wear and stepped in for a morning swim! The water was clear and not too cold. It was a mix between salt water and fresh water which was an interesting fact. After waking up and taking some beautiful pictures we jumped back on our horses and headed back to the stables! BY the time we were done our tummys were rumbling and it was time for some lunch. We spent the rest of the afternoon around the bay enjoying a lovely birthday! 4:30 came arround and i was informed i had a 2nd surprise 😊 Spoilt girl i know !!! We had to be somewhere else at 5pm. We arrived at a place called Float Utila, somewhere i had been admiring since we arrived on the island. Float Utila is the largest flotation tank in the world, it is where you are completley bouyant in a tank of water, so your muscles completely relax, its pitch black and theres no noise so your mind, your head and your body are at
complete ease, it provides the deepest relaxation ever. I loved it! When i was finished and in complete relaxation mode steve greeted me at the door for a personal massage to end a lovely day. By this time it was about 7pm and once again our stomach were rumbling so we headed off for a 2nd birthday dinner so we were full and ready to go watch a film in the Utila cinema. I couldnt of asked for anything else for my birthday and thank you to everyone that made it oh so special, especially you steve 😊
We enjoyed our hotel so much, who wouldnt, we actually stretched our bank accounts to stay for a 3rd night! Thank you katy for making that night another relaxing night 😊
So after being a very spoilt girl, it was time to say goodbye to The Lighthouse and get ready to depart the island! We eventually left yesterday early morning and have 10 hours of travelling infront of us to get to Lago De Yojoa before it hit night time! We made it and we are here, staying in a place called D&D Brewery, which is on top of a
mountain in the middle of the jungle! It is actually the only homemade brewery around. So we spend most of last night trying all the different ales and enjoying the lovely staff and peaceful atmosphere!
Today, we have just had some pancakes for breakfast and we are going to set off on our first hike here off to El Paraiso Coffee Finca where it has its own functioning coffee plantation. There is tons to do here at Lago De Yojoa, lots of hikes, you can boat on the lake, hike up to waterfalls, bird watch, all sorts! So as where we're staying seems so nice and friendly looks like we will be here a while.. unless these darn mosquitoes drive me away first!!!
