The locale of a James Bond

The name of that famous disneyland ride..? Halfway across the world at a swank concert hall I consumed a chupa chup (sucker), dawned in the usual attire- odipherous, monochromatic and wildly formal shorts and a 't'. This concert, a crème de la crème of Mozart's works (by grossly authentic garbed players+whigs) didn't move me to tears, or standing ovation like so many in the crowd. I was however surprised when perusing the crowd to recognize where the whigs came from. Oh and one of my friends from WWU just happened to be attending the concert. Yes it is the matterhorn afterall.... [View Full Entry]

Salzburg

Europe » Austria » Salzburg State » Salzburg
Mozart truly had it made (minus dying from an std in his 30's)...Salzburg is a rad city and my favorite thus far. My initial intrigue with the narrow streets of Europe has worn off, and I feel a bit as if I had come to America and taken pictures of the freeways. The streets really are narrow! I think we're averaging two ice cream cones a day, (Sam and I in preparation for latter half of the trip) Europe is expensive. In that sense it is a nice compliment to Asia, both in the pocket book and digestive tract. [View Full Entry]

Not really, it was a static car in the Natural Museum...
This is admittedly a retrospective blog. One thing that still confuses me (even in retrospect, of like five days) is why we amercanize all the names of the worlds cities, and the favor is not returned in kind? I mean, we take a somewhat mundane name such as Wien- and make it Vienna, a cultural and artistic hub on the world. Munchen, which totally sounds like a lazy verb, becomes 'Munich' concise and perchance regal--- Next stop Salzburg (which we left untranslated- it means land of salt) It is the home of Mozart, an unfortunately ugly man with a beautiful mind [View Full Entry]

Night in Bolzano
While this may appear to be posed, I can assure you it is a candid (self) portrait.
(B)logorrhea I am quickly becoming a man of few words, and many pictures (with lots of words in the captions). We have covered quite a bit of ground at breakneck speed so it is somewhat hard to digest it into a coherent narrative. What I can declare however is that the 17 day, 6 country (no wash) ex officio underwear is a complete myth. It is perchance a pathway to the eurobackpacker mystique, and where the aforementioned 'person' gets their patchouli like air. That won't stop any of us however from testing the limits. (and at least one of us has [View Full Entry]

From the untouristed backroads of Roatan.
Roatan on the fast The most desired 'excursion' (cruise lingo for something to do on land) was unfortunately full-up in Honduras. The Roatan Segway beach tour filled to capacity only 3 minutes after tickets were released, and well before I had the opportunity to snag a spot. (Segways are the new age people movers the work based on balance- check the microsoft campus for more info/sightings) Instead I bartered for the next best in the two wheeler category. After some bidding with the local mafioso, we arranged for some scooters, (as he hasslehoffed the native ladies, who di [View Full Entry]

People Watching

 Asia » Thailand » Central » Bangkok
Preface In highschool Sam, Eric, John Jenkins, and I swam over and jumped on a water trampoline in Lake Sammamish. On the way back we saw a couple romancing on the dock next to us. Naturally we made our way over to go underneath the dock and make noises- But within ten feet of completing the mission, our seals training failed and I busted up laughing trying to stifle it by going underwater. Not a terribly exciting story Interview Pat to Sam "What do you recall about that fateful evening?" Sam "Yah- I remember there were a lot of us in [View Full Entry]

Coup de'Thailand Sam to Me... (a riddle) "So this man gets an arm sent to him in the mail, he goes outside and buries it in the woods in his backyard, howcome?" Me to Sam "Hrmmm, did he kill someone?" Sam to Me- "No, its kind of obscure." Currently We are currently rolling around Bangkok (in tanks) also translated as the city of angels- against the advice of our parents and quite a few media outlets. But I figure why miss a bloodless coup. The first thing we really did when we got here, after taking a 16 hour ride from [View Full Entry]
