Well hello there, hows it going? Im going to update you on the last weeks events..... When we eventually got through customs and into Singapore we headed to Little India, which was cool. My first impressions of Singapore weren't great, I thought it was a bit souless. We checked into our outrageously priced dormroom and went out for tea, as we were staying in Little India, the food that was cheapest and most easily available was, believe it or not, curry. It was tasty though! On the Friday we decided to go to the heart of the city and see a [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone, sorry its been so long - we've been busy relaxing on the beautiful Pulau Tioman for the last 2 weeks.... We finally left Kuala Lumpur on the Friday, complete with new passports and a letter from the embassy explaining our old ones had been stolen and to please let us leave Malaysia! A short 4 hour bus journey later we were in the town of Mersing where we would take the ferry across to Tioman. Mersing itself doesnt really warrant much of a description - if it was a little more charming we were going to stay there a [View Full Entry]

Hello!! Its been a while since I had the pleasure of chatting to you, and as I promised last time, I am not giving a history lesson this time. We have had quite an eventful few days, as some of you (I'm talking about our parents here) have found out. Joey left you after we had conquered Cambodia. So the next morning we got in our tuk tuk with Chai for a final time. As we rattled our way to the airport we realised we had no idea about the tipping etiquette for tuk tuk drivers, and we had used Chai [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone, this is our last blog in Cambodia as we're flying to Kuala Lumpur tomorrow morning. Thought i'd get you upto speed on our last week in this beautiful country..... We stayed in Sihanoukville for 4 nights in total - it was good to have a relax after the intensity of the previous week and the place had a chilled out in the day time but party at night thing going on which was just what we were looking for! Learning our lesson from the first day we decided to avoid the beach as its not very relaxing being asked [View Full Entry]

Hello there, its me again, I know we usually alternate, but my last one was mainly putting photos up so Joey has agreed to let me double up. The evening after the Cu Chi tunnels we went out for dinner with Liam and Michelle, and ended up at a Bia Hoi. Not long after we were arrived, so did Jonny. We spent the evening chatting, and drinking. With beer at 30p a bottle, and no watch, we had no idea how late it had gotten.....Until the sun came up! Jo and I went to bed "early" at 5am. The next day [View Full Entry]

Welcome to Cambodia

2 blogs in 2 days, how exciting! Thought Id take advantage of the fact that Joey is napping and we get free internet to show you our pics from along the way in Vietnam! Also I would like to tell you about our day today. We got up at 7 and hopped on a bus to near the Cambodian border to see a Cau Dai church. It is an indigenous religion of Vietnam and it constitutes Catholic, Confucian, Buddhist and Hindu beliefs. It was nice to see, and we sat in the midday service. Everyone was all robed up. Ok, howdo. This is Joey's blog, but shes not feeling "chatty and fun" so I'm writing what will no doubt be, a heavily edited blog! Yes the title is a reference to the Oasis gig im still a bit annoyed i missed. Because strictly speaking, I havent used or indeed seen a Wok in the 2 months we have been here so far! So when I last wrote we were in Hoi An. The Friday morning, we along with Liam and Michelle, hired bikes and now Joey has perked up and wants to take over...... Sorry. Bye! Hello! sorry about that, [View Full Entry]

Hello there!! Joey left you just as we got back to Hanoi. Well what a week its been. We've been to Hanoi, Halong bay, Hue, along Hai Van Pass to Hoi An...... Next week we plan to visit towns begining with the letter "I". On the Saturday morning we moved out of our hostel and headed to the Hanoi Backpackers Hostel. First impressions were disapointing. $18 a night, (inc breakfast), we had air con, which seems to be standard in Vietnam, but no fridge or TV or bathroom. (which is standard here also). However, the people were really friendly and there [View Full Entry]

Having arrived at 2.30am the previous night, our first day in Hanoi was spent wandering around the maze of streets in the old quarter (where we are staying). We found our way to the lake which is where a lot of action seems to be - the water puppet theatre is there, along with the more upmarket shopes such as Calvin Klein, Cartier and Clinique which we wistfully wandered past (well, I did anyway!) A temple dedicated to confucian and tao philosophers was an interesting alternative to the buddhist temples we have recently seen a lot of! Dinner in the Bamboo [View Full Entry]

As we havent been able to upload photos for ages, due to the internet in Laos being painfully slow, we thought we'd do a photo blog to get you upto speed. Just back from Halong Bay and Joey will blog about that later with photos. There are more photos, we will bore our families with them, and anyone who wants to see them can ask.... but it takes ages to put them online, and an hour uploading photos is enough for anyone! Enjoy! [View Full Entry]
