High fever David, Sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Shame since it looks like you are in Shangri La! Watch that fever if it comes back, as it could be Malaria like I had. If so, get thee to a DR. Take care and get well-Glenn :-+
I was getting worried as there hadn't been an update in days. Glad your feeling better and hope you shake the bird flu, or in your case, the banana pancake flu.
i think its not because of BOA that your ATM card didnt work in Malaysia, instead it has to do with the new malaysian banking system that uses a "chip" not a magnetic strip.
does your ATM card have a chip or magnetic strip? mine also didnt work in malaysia due to this change but it had worked on previous trips.
chiang mai yo dave it be frazer! how you doing bud? im in chiang mai and i will eat a banana pancake. just got here so we'll see how it goes. ive heard ko lipe is great! really quiet and really laid back. have fun and maybe we'll run into eachother along our travels.
Pics Dave-your photography is really great. I can see why those folks wanted to see them. Very impressive and great to see the things you have seen. Really enjoying your travels!! Glenn :->
I had a fun weekend of reading Dave,
I finally found your blog and enjoyed getting caught up on your travels. Very jealous of the days of scuba diving (you should have joined our dive club at Westmont) and James Bond Island (The Man with the Golden Gun is my all time favorite). My prayers are with you.

Blog of the Moment at About Hi Dave, You just became the "Blog of the Moment" at About Dot Com's Asia for Visitors page http://goasia.about.com Keep up the good blogging... Greg
We love Singapore too. Had a SINGapore Sling at the Raffles hotel 16 years ago. Jim preached at 3 churches there and fell of the pulpit of one, got their attention though. Rained alot and was hot and muggy, but clean! The food was yummy! God bless your travels and keep you safe. Godspeed!
Hey Dave - nice to hang out with you too - having someone to speak to outside of a work environment and to share the "enjoyment" of the blow-by-blow descriptive commentary was fun. Obviously you got to KL ok, hope you got to catch some of the superbowl. Best of luck with the rest of the this trip and the many more to come. Cheers!
Bencoolen Street... Hi Dave,
Stumbled upon ur blog by chance.. and its funny to see u talking bout the places around ur lodging while in S'pore! this is cos my office is in Bencoolen Street and many a times i see lots of tourists walking ard this area... never expect to read one who talked bout this place online :P

Hi Dave Dave,
Great to hear the update from Singapore. We are in Hawaii reading your messages. What is in a Singapore Sling? I don't think they serve them in Oahu.:) Glad to hear the trip is going well.
Love, Brian and DeeDee.
When's lunch? You look like you are having WAY too much fun!! Hey, when are you cooking lunch??? Food looks great! Makes me want to go to Thailand again. Your camera/photography is doing really well! I think the Canon was a good choice!! Looking forward to more of your travels-Glenn :->
I still cannot get over how cheap things are over there! It sounds like every minute of your day is always filled with something exciting. I am glad that God has been guiding your trip and that you have not have any major setbacks. Happy traveling :) - Barrett
IJM Would love to talk to you about IJM when you get back and see how we can help out! I have been doing a lot of research on this topic since I have returned from Thailand and would love to help the kids and women there!
happy chinese new year to you too :-) hi Dave, it's great reading about your adventures.
i am still in phuket, drinking beer on the beach.
keep having fun!
just to tell when you go to the international hospital ask for a doctor, dont ask for a ear doctor, the problem you had I had also some time ago. in this hospital there are always between 5 - 10 ++ doctors on site and every one of them can handle this, there is a different system here. There are a few more hospitals in phuket town but anyway you made the right choice. If you need some travel stuff go to the south services travel just beside the pearl hotel. they are working very good and ..very important.. they dont cheat !! because usually when a "farang" comes in by the door smiling and prices go up exponentially. if you want to have a beach for your own go to karon beach just south of patong beach, you will see a amazing difference within such a short distance, actually there are dozens of other beaches towards north and as further north you get the whiter the sand on the beach gets. if you like more have a look at www.thailandsouthern.com. beside of normal info you find a lot of photos and videos.
Nice Pics Dave, the pictures you have been taking are awesome. I hope to see even more of them when you get back. Hope your ear is better :) I'm still prayin' for ya. -Barrett
The Best Yet! This is the best yet! I would have LOVED to have been there! How awesome that you were able to do this! Ok, we need to have some more adventures out in California when you get back! Maybe white water rafting in the summer?
This blog began with my 9 week adventure through SE Asia in 2006. That initial leap into the unknown led to many other life-changing decisions, the largest of which involved moving overseas. After living in America for my entire life, I moved to Bangkok, Thailand on June 30, 2007.
The blog continues as I share about living in Thailand, and traveling, primarily within SE Asia.
