Happy New Year 2014 Dear Hong Ha,
Happy New Year to you. Great to read the first posting for the year 2014. The photos in this post were beautiful, especially the fire work photos :). Take care.
memories of Vietnam I did two tours in Vietnam ('65-66, '67-68), one with a rifle company and the second with the 5th Special Forces Gp. Got a bit banged up right at the end of the 2d tour, but will always the country and its remarkably resilient people fondly, and always enjoy this young lady's posts. Would love to go back but doubt that I could survive the required eighteen hours in the air in my state of advanced dotage.
Fun traveling. Always enjoy your blogs. Did I miss where you quit your job and not now working? Hope you have the best holidays with google fortune. Cheers.
Snowing Around Sapa & Ha Kiang Area Dear Hong Ha,
I read in the news & saw photos of snowing around Sapa & Ha Kiang area last Sunday. The local officers distributed blankets to residents & about 80000 people affected by the cold :(. The snow was about 5 to 10cm thick & causing traffic jam as tourists flocked to view the scenery.
That all.
Take care.

Hi, great to read your blog :) Your nephew is so cute & cubby:)
The weather in Kuala Lumpur is not good this time of the year & flooding on the east coast of Malaysia since last Monday:(
Take care :)
Super traveler! Your travels are amazing! How lucky that you got to visit these beautiful places before the invasion of tourists changed their characters. I love your photos, especially this pagoda that you caught in perfect lighting. Happy travels!
Amazing Impressions,. Thank you for all your work. The Photographs give a very good impression of what these countries are like and help prepare me for when I would like to visit in the future.
Great to hear you had a wonderful time in Australia and that you were able to experience an Aussie barbecue. If you do also get to visit Canberra, I recommend you dine at The Copa Brazillian churrasco who serves the best churrasco barbecue in town. Their website is: http://thecopabrazilianchurrasco.com.au/
Thanks for sharing I truly enjoyed looking at the pictures of Hanoi in1980. Thanks for sharing! I haven't been to Vietnam yet, but I truly hope to make it there in the next 2 years. I am biking from China to Turkey (or Dubai, depending on the winter) at the moment. A bit of sunshine from Vietnam sounds Amazing!

Hello Red River, This is Kent Converse. Do you remember me? I am going to VN sometime in Dec. I am bringing my Grandson. We will be in the Vietnam area for six months. I hope you will let me and my Grandson Wes treat you to dinner when we get to Hanoi. Your effort, cleverness with the Ao Dai story was amazing. I am going to read all your blogs, study them before and when I visit parts of the world, you have written about. Take care,
Kent
Sorry we were not able to meet you... ...and glad you enjoyed your stay in Australia.
If you do come back, please let us know. The TravelBlog community here would love to meet you.
Did you see the blogs on our get-together in Sydney? We drank a toast to your good health as your trip to Oz caused our meeting up.

Impressions of my former home I used to live within a 5 minute walk of the Wheel of Brisbane and the Nepalese Peace Pagoda - opposite the cinemas in Southbank. Sorry that I couldn't be there during your visit, but I left Brisbane in December last year. I reckon Southbank is definitely the best part of Brisbane to both live and visit. Interestingly, the Nepalese Peace Pagoda was going to be dismantled after Expo 88, but a public fundraising effort saw the Pagoda preserved and moved to its current location. During Expo it was located much closer toward the Goodwill Bridge, but not on the river. The Pagoda and the Piazza are the only two remaining buildings at Southbank built specifically for Expo 88.
I love Melbourne too. I was there for a week earlier this year and still felt it wasn\'t enough time. You really did an amazing amount in the few days you were there. Have a good trip back to Vietnam. I hope we see you again soon.
Hi Hong Ha,
What an experience to be stuck in the traffic jam for hours! The photos of your Melbourne trip were beautiful, brought so much memories to me. The new trams look beautiful. Thank you for the great write up.
Take care
