Second last day, and its time to really do a push for last minute shopping. Hong Kong must have a mall or shopping centre on every block I dont know how you would ever get bored here. Its is full on pouring rain and we buy an umbrella from a street vendor. My mission was simple, winter clothing. There are a ton of stores, and we spend the whole day shop hopping. Its hard to picture winter at all when I have been so hot all week and sleeping with air conditioning on full blast. I must say when I have my mind set to something, I really do it. My visa really got the work out i have been training it for. In the morning I lay my treaures out on my bed. I dont ... read more

So after all the buddha siteseeing and working up an appetite, the next morning it was time to check out Tim ho wans, an imfamous dim sum house known for thier delicious fresh made bbq pork buns, amazing dim sum, and a 2 hour long wait. We try to be proactive by arriving 40 mins before it opens to line up. Apparently we were not the only ones. But thankfully a man came out, taking the first group lucky enough to make the first cut, and the second group, gave us a number and time to be back. We walked around Mong Kok for a bit, checked out future shopping spots, and then eagerly headed back. When we got inside, the restsurant was very small, i estimate 40 seats or so, our table was built for ... read more

So yesterday we took a shopping day. Much needed and perfect timing because my head was starting to spin every time I kept passing stores but not going in them. I have to say I did some reasonable damage, I'm pretty pround. We spent most of the day in Causeway Bay Area. It's so overwhelming because at first glance it seems that there is no shopping at all. We would enter these buildings that were a bit bare at first, empty with an escalator going to a second level that looked over the first, and I could see from the ground the stores were mainly jewelry Or beauty products. Our shoulders would slump a bit in disappointment, but we would peek upstairs to see..I tell you it's like being in a empty green space and pulling ... read more

Day 2. Macau. We get up bright and early. Again. Well technically I was up at 1 then 3 then finally got up at 6. Today we take a trip to Macau. I'm afraid I didn't know much about it except its an Asian Las Vegas. It's a mix of Chinese and Portuguese influence. I'm excited to see the architecture and of course the food. The mix of Portuguese and Asian flavors not to mention the Portuguese egg tarts. We get ready and head down o the ferries. I assumed tht this ferry would be similar to the ones servicing Vancouver to Victoria type thing. I forget that we are technically going to another country and we have to go thru immigration. Don't worry, I tell my motion sensitive friend, these ferries are big and you ... read more

Travel time: 24 hours. I don't know my own name or what time zone my body is in. I have been sitting too long, eating way too much carbs and plane food. Don't even know if I'm hungry or not, but eat for the simple fact I don't know when I'll have a meal again. Everything on the plane is dark, peope are sleeping, and I'm waiting until I see a glimmer of hope outside that tiny airplane window. I have no expectations and have almost forgotten my destination. I expected to see a hint if the glitzy skyline upon our descent but I see nothing but dark and airport. It's a short-ish bus ride to our apartment where Stanley our host meets us. We are on a really busy street with lots of foot traffic ... read more

San Sebastian Woke up early today so I could get an early start on my weekend trip to San Sebastian, Spain otherwise known as Donostia. I caught the train to Hendye and switched over to the eukostran train into San Sebastian. I didn't even know what to expect but as the train  pulled into the stop I was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful it already was. The amazing architecture and lush trees and flowers. I walked over to my hotel, Hotel Astoria, and checked in. The hotel is based on the Spanish film festival so it's all about movie directors and stars. I got the Annette Benning room. I have to say I absolutely love my hotel room. The bathroom is encased in glass walls, which I have never seen before in a hotel room, or ... read more

Happy Bastille day! I get the day off from school and thankfully it's really hot out with clear skies so today was a lounge day. I began my morning how I would like to start all my mornings, surfing to begin the day followed by a run while it was still cooler out, then spent the rest of the afternoon sunning myself at le grande plage. Super tough life I know. Surfing this morning was great. The water was perfect, although with the rough weather yesterday a lot of Portuguese man o wars were found on the beach. It was slightly creeping me out. Today's mission was to see if I could start reading the waves and seeing which ones to take. This is a lot harder than one would think. I thought I would try ... read more

Well I have finally made it here. As I sit in this seaside cafe, it's hard to believe I spent 24 hours traveling time to get here. Oh wait a minute, the heaviness of my eyelids and the general failure of my body reminds me. Again amazing how little sleep the body can run off of. And how much closer to clinical insanity I am right now. I strain to keep myself awake right now, hoping to get over any jet lag as soon as possible. Surprisingly for all my stresses the flights all work out. I had earlier concern about catching my domestic Air France flight, which unbeknownst to me until a week ago, left from another airport. I had mapped in my head all possibilities and road bumps I could possibly have. I couldn't ... read more

oh joie de vivre! Wrapping up the paris trip and I can't help but feel a little surreal. The last 2 days have been just chill days, nothing planned, no museums or churches, just soaking up every last bit of the city that we could. Yesterday the day turned out to be perfect. It was a little cloudy in the morning, but the sky opened up and released the sun. We had made our way to Jardin du luxemburg where we pulled up a chair and sat, soaking in the sun and the fall colors , with no time line and no worries. Our biggest entertainment during the day was feeding the birds roasted chetnuts and picnicing. We had planned a late dinner, so on our way back to the hotel, I made a last minute ... read more

Art and History. That is what we were cramming in the past 2 days, and I can feel the effects physically on my body. We started off with a trip up the Notre dame towers. Wednsday was freezing cold with bitter winds, so probably not the best to go to the top of a church tower, but the view was amazing. You can get right up close to the gargoyles that sit on the ledge, watching over the church. I love gargoyles, despite thier meanacing and scary apperance, I have always found them facinating. I wonder how it would go over to have a gargoyle that size hanging off my balcony in my condo. Might look a bit off place..... After the towers we did a quick loop inside the church. I would have to say ... read more
