Geo: -33.8671, 151.207 The super shuttle picked me up at 3.30 am for my 6 am flight to Sydney, we were early and the Customs was still not open so I checked in for my Air Asia flights on-line for my Asian trip. My flight to Sydney was with Virgin Australia and no meals were provided on this flight. I had packed some snacks which I shared with the young couple sitting next to me. When we arrived at Sydney I took the airport train to the central station and stored the luggage in the locker at Sydney Yha central, which is opposite the central station. The lockers are of different sizes, very reasonably priced and you can also charge your gadgets here.I quickly went back to the station, bought a day pass for $23 and ... read more

Geo: -43.3891, 170.182 After checking out of the hostel and I waited outside for the bus at 9.20. The Newman's coach was supposed to pick me up from YHA at 9.39 am but at 9.55, I saw one Newmans bus going straight towards the main stop near the lake so I panicked and I called the Intercity bus as I thought they had forgotten me as I was the only one person being picked up from YHa. The idea of being stranded was very daunting but I was very relieved when they told me that the driver was late. After 15 mins, I was finally on the bus and I got a window seat but than many people got on at Ardmore st at the lake and the bus was full, I was lucky to get ... read more

Geo: -45.0311, 168.663 I woke up early so I did not have to queue for shower, my room in Haka lodge was nice with free wifi but my room was on top of the kitchen /lounge with the kitchen open all hours so the noise of people cooking and the smells even at 3 am, kept me awake. The bathroom was very nice but being next to Lounge/ kitchen, it was occupied most of the time and I had to use one on the other section, the staff at the reception were friendly and helpful. Geo: -44.6698, 167.928 Today the pickup was at 7.20 am and it was only 5 mins walk from the hostel to Athol st. Again the tour was with Great Sights and the coach had glass-roof for views of the skyline but the weather was gloomy, cold and it had rained heavily at night. The tour was packed and along the way there are few stops for brief walks at Mirror Lake, The Chasm a short walk over footbridges spanning a series of swirling waterfalls and at the Monkey Creek which was good place for pictures. We passed the rugged mountain terrain past Te Anau on the shores of the largest lake in the South Island. The Kiwis have a good sense of humour and have given spooky names like Devils Home, Devils bath (green) Devils ink pot and Champagne pool to various hot spots. I was very fascinated by the all colourful geothermal activity, our guide was really good and took us to all the main spots. Also there were written posters describing everything in details and colour chart for each mineral, I absolutely loved each and every minute of my time walking there. Geo: -43.5316, 172.637I arrived at Christchurch airport late afternoon by New Zealand airlines, all my flights with NZ airlines have been great. I caught the super shuttle to YMCA hostel and we were 8 people in the shuttle and I got chatting with them, even the driver got friendly. He showed us some of the Earth quake damage in CCH and the beautiful cathedral which will cost huge amount to restore. I felt really sad with tears at the destruction so I did not have heart to take the pictures, there has been great loss and the community are really feeling the pinch. Some People were moving to suburbs, places are deserted in some areas and I do feel sorry for all the people there. I was last one to be dropped and I paid $24, ... read more
