Geo: -36.8474, 174.766 Auckland is New Zealand's largest city and main transport hub, the region is home to some 1.5 million people. Maori were the first inhabitants of New Zealand and they came from an island or group of islands in Polynesia in the South Pacific Ocean. There are distinct similarities between the Maori language & culture and others of Polynesia including the Cook Islands, Hawaii and Tahiti. After a long flight from LA, I arrived at Auckland early in the morning; my flight with New Zealand airlines was excellent. I took the airport bus from the door 9 and it cost me $16. The driver helped me to get off at right stop for my hotel Best western at Victoria St west. It was only 4 min steep walk there.I quickly left my luggage at ... read more

Geo: 34.0533, -118.245 I checked out of the Custom hotel in the morning and left my luggage for storage, the staff were most helpful and I was picked up from my hotel by the LA Tour promptly. I was taken to Santa Monica which has a theme park on a pier on the water, I looked around Santa Monica for some time while waiting for the rest of the group. The tour guide introduced himself as Brett and then we set off to beautiful Malibu, Brett parked the bus on the car park and told us that this was the car park where Jim Rockford's trailer was filmed in Rockford Files. We had a walk on the Malibu pier with great views of the beach. We were taken for a drive up the famous Sunset Blvd ... read more

Geo: 37.8772, -119.727Today we started very early, I was at the lobby at 4.40 am for the free coffee to eat with my rolls/cake as there was no kettle or hot water facility in the hotel room. I also needed the wifi to book seat for my flight to New Zealand. I was pleased that I managed to get a window seat for my flight. Then we were off to Yosemite Park.I was at the back of the bus again with 3 free seats, perfect for me to rest or sleep. As we approached the Park, the landscape was very scenic with trees and rocks. It is stunning here and I just love the nature. Yosemite Park Yosemite Park is area of outstanding beauty and great wilderness. Geo: 37.7792, -122.42We had an early start for sightseeing of San Francisco and today I had a young Lebanese lady sit next to me, she was having a holiday with her parents before getting married in the summer in Beirut. Our first stop was Stanford University Located in NW Silicon Valley, this famous research institution is not just one of the best schools in the United States, but one of the top universities in the world. I was not very impressed here after seeing English Universities and our next stop was The Golden Gate Bridge. The Iconic Golden Gate Bridge Before approaching the bridge there are few viewpoints you can visit and take photos of the bridge. The guide told us that San Francisco is usually foggy due to the mixture of moisture & cold air, ... read more

My tour was picking us up from China Town at 6.40 am and the taxi from my hotel to China Town would cost me $60 so I decided on alternative route. At Lax airport I waited for the Fly bus cost $7 (I paid with card in London) which arrived 15 mins late but I was early anyway. Fly bus took me to Union station. On the bus, I met another traveller and we spend the whole time, exchanging travel stories/ tips. After we got off, about 40 mins journey, he paid by card at Union station as the fly bus does not take cash. We walked to the end of the other side of Station and ... read more

Geo: 59.4392, 24.7586 Today after our breakfast we booked the taxi for the Lux bus stop, going to Tallinn. The lux bus was very comfortable with chargers, Wi-Fi, free tea and coffee, it took 4 ½ hrs but the time passed quickly as we were playing games and I also read the news. I had booked the Lux bus from London and brought the printout of the tickets which was very convenient. We took a taxi to My City Hotel in old town from the Tallinn Bus stop, after our swift check in at my city hotel we walked to St. Nicholas' Church just about 2 mins from our hotel. St. Nicholas' Church is a medieval former church, built in the 13th century and is dedicated to Saint Nicholas, the patron of the fishermen and sailors. ... read more

Geo: 56.9465, 24.1048We went for the champagne breakfast which was really nice with many varieties for the vegetarians and we then went to St Peter's Cathedral to see the views from top of the church, there is a lift to the top so we saved our legs. The 360 degree views of Riga were spectacular but it was bitterly cold and very windy so we did not hang out there for very long otherwise we would have hypothermia. There is a small charge of 7 euros for the lift but the views are worth it. Santa's Fun RunAfter St Peters church we went to town centre which had all the Christmas and New Year decorations on with elegant churches and some beautiful buildings with interesting architecture but the main Highlight was the Santa's Fair.
