Some comparison This is a first. I have not read anything yet describing tropical islands like breasts ;-) The comparison actually drew me to read your blog thoroughly. And I was not disappointed. Nice style. Too bad the weather spoiled the last days of your vacay, but then again, that leaves you an excuse to go back for more breasts, errr islands.
HOLA FROM LA PAZ Hey couple!! Hola from Bolivia, it seems the weather has improved in your paradise, we´d like to be there with you for one day at least, cause here in la Paz we don´t see the sea. Everything OK here, we spent new year´s eve in Sun Island in the bolivian part of Titicaca Lake, we had amazing views of bolivian mountains over there. Now we are heading to the Yungas, beggining of the jungle, to stay for a while in a ecological farm, as volunteers. Afterwards we´ll try to go deeper into the real jungle, because now is the rainy season.
Take care, lots of kisses from your spanish friends and happy 2011!! See u!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Blog of the Year Congratulations! :) This blog was nominated one of the best of 2010, in the Asia/writing category.
''I'd like to give a mention the the scribbligs of Scottandanny, well written, fantastic attention to detail - usually with a twist. One in particular An alternative guide to India. Part one: Transport should be essential reading to anyone either visiting India for the first time or even those that are used to how it all works - or doesn't as the case may be. :-)''

Grumpy Man So pleased to hear the bundle of joy is still there welcoming his guests with open arms! Wouldn't you think that if you hated it that much you'd just leave?! Such a lovely place to live too.. why is he like that?! Like you say though the local staff who are there more than make up for him, such friendly welcoming people which made our Christmas stay one to remember. You had me laughing out loud reading about him again so thanks guys!
Totally agree with Donna & Neil about the sandflies there.. as soon as that sun was on it's way down there was no way we'd linger on that beach to become dinner for them!
Your writing is just wonderful to read, it's such a treat when your blogs come up and makes my day :o)
Have fun up in El Nido and will look forward to reading the next instalment.. take care xx
Awesome One of the best things I've read on Travel Blog. The first three paragraphs almost encapsulate my own views but you put them into words much better than I could.
Cacnipa island..a strange mix of heaven and hell! When we were on Cacnipa we never met with grumpy Swiss owner (probably a good thing from what you say). We did, however, find the island a perfect mix of heaven and hell. Heaven due to the isolation, gorgeous beach and resort but hell due to those sandflies...the island seemed to be infested by them and we just seemed to itch the entire time and most of the time the staff probably thought we had ants in our pants because we couldn't keep still! Fab photos, enjoy the rest of Palawan!
Sending love from Brighton Hello you two,
I keep following your blog and looking in awe at your amazing pictures. So glad you are having such a good time. Missing you.
Can´t wait for you to be back though, Anny :)
Lots of love and be safe.

haha I rode the Milagrosa 3 times - not the nicest experience, I'll agree! And like you said in your last blog, the Philippines Lonely Planet is as good as useless. Even if they just made stuff up you'd expect them to get it right by pure luck once in a while but they haven't, the book is just consistently wrong!
That Feelin Shitty Breakfast is a spot of marketing genius! We got back yesterday from 3 weeks out that way. Weather was, on the whole, dissapointing but - even when it was consistantly bad - its still better than freezing your bits off back home. May the sunshine for you on the next leg. Chin up matey - you're doing a great job entertaining the rest of us. :-)
Veggies! The best one we had was when I asked for a vegetarian dish in the Philippines; the waitress in response asked if I wanted the pork or chicken version...I replied, no meat, just vegetarian and the waitress said, 'oh you mean plain rice?'!!
So true that you are looked at like some weird and demented person for wanting veggies!
How I enjoyed this blog! Don't know how i "missed" this blog........i must have been on holiday somewhere then. The photos tell a very good story, but I've got to say that your "ramblings" are just as interesting. Enjoyed your blog. Thoroughly. And I'm glad you failed in making it short. ;-)
Sorry the weather is putting a dampner on such a fab place.... It seems that most of Asia is having a bad time at the moment (or from what we hear anyhow). We have a couple of friends who set off on a 3 month trip to Thailand etc and came back after 5 weeks as it didn't stop raining!
Roel mailed us a week ago to say they were coming across from Palawan so you must have met them coming the other way?! We hope that the sun shines for you there as it's such a beautiful place (one of our favourites for obvious reasons!) We'll look forward to hearing about how you got on there. Oh to be back out there again :o)
Take care both of you and hope you find the sun soon.. try not to let it get you down too much, are you planning to go to Ati Atihan at all? xx
I was laughing a lot reading your blog, specially the part about veggies. As it really is quite a challenge for me to find my wife a decent serving of veggies every time we vacation in my country. We even have to go to the supermarket ourselves to force my mother to add more veggies whenever she cook. Hoping you get more sun in the days to come.

''Some blogs have a few good pictures & some blogs have a few great pictures but I think every picture in this blog is amazing, a great mixture of breathtaking landscape pictures & pictures of the local people.''
devoured every word Absolutely the best travel journal I have read - most enjoyable! That being said, and meant, I easily identify with your walk in the tiger preserve...starting at every sound. I have followed paths that grizzlies shared in BC. And, as I am about to spend a bit of time in India, perhaps you might have some idea of about the accepted wisdom of wandering about the woods there, what with tigers and leopards and such. I delight in walking in a strange forest...but is it stupid? Only if you are eaten. What sort of respect do these critters have for us? Is there a plan B? Any insight would be appreciated.
fantastic writter this is the very best reading on travel I have ever encountered...a wonderful gift of words
and I shall soon enter this magical crazy land (jan 4) to see for myself
brings back happy memories of a) all the multi-day, sleepless trips on multiple forms of public transport on crap roads and rough seas that traveling the Philippines involves and b) the 3 occasions I stayed on Pandan Island to get away from it all after months of roughing it :) Really great blog, thanks
