Since we go through Buffalo, NY to get to Niagara Falls we decided we must stop for dinner at the home of the "original buffalo wings" The Anchor Bar. It was in downtown Buffalo in a neighborhood that has seen better days which made us a little nervous about leaving our travel carrier on the car. Luckily, the restaurant was nice and had a fun decor of license plates from all over the country on the walls.  After a wait of what seemed forever, we were happily covered in wing sauce. Man, they were good!! Sorry, we ate them all. :) Next stop Canada. The customs wait was long and we were worried about missing the 2 story pool slide. We walked into our room just before the fireworks began on the falls. The view from our ... read more

Day 3: We headed up to the Northeast Region where some of Casey's family lives and where Sam works. First stop: boating on the Green River Reservoir. It was beautiful and peaceful. The last time we went kayaking the kids said they wouldn't do it again. Luckily, they realize it just looked like too much fun to miss out on. So they did it and no one fell in the water (who didn't want to). Next it was over to meet some of Casey's family. Her Mom's twin brother Earl and his kids LeeAnn and Dylan. Great family. They really know how to have fun. We sat around and watched Will wear out the zip line while talked and laughed. For dinner we went to the Pizza place in town which was excellent. We sat outside ... read more

Day 2- Today the weather was not so cooperative for outdoor activities so we took advantage of the indoor activities. First we went to breakfast at 158 Main. Took a while to get our food but they made up for it in quality, good stuff. Next we drove over the notch to Stowe with our first stop being the apple cider mill where we had of course cider and an apple cider cake donut. Then across the lot to sample some wine. Then back in the Tahoe and on down the road where we stopped at a hand blown glass shop. I think we were all very surprised how interesting it was to watch the very talented individuals making the blown glass, very cool to see. On down the road to the Cabot's cheese outlet where ... read more

Okay before I get started on VT, I have to apologize that there are little if any pics for the next few entries. I am trying to finish this with my iPhone from the road. So that's also my excuse for all the typos. Heck, let's just blame it for the grammar errors too. Sam and Casey kept us entertained as you will soon read. I promise to add pics as soon as possible. Here we go...The next part of our adventure took us to Vermont. Matt's brother Sam is living there with his girlfriend Casey. Vermont is a beautiful state with awesome views almost everywhere you look, mountains everywhere. We arrived late afternoon and brought rain with us but Casey, Sam, and her mom Emily had made wonderful snacks and had a selection of local ... read more

I love New York in July. Okay so I know that is not how the song goes, but it is more accurate for us. We arrived in NYC at rush hour. We thought "well everyone will be leaving the city and it shouldn't be bad." We were wrong. We crossed over into the city via Lincoln tunnel. Just getting into the tunnel after leaving the last of many New Jersey toll stations was the worst. They feed 6 or 7 lanes into two in about a length of 200 feet. We were too excited to let this bother us though. Luckily my Aunt had warned us that broadway was closed at Times Square during summer because the GPS didn't get the memo. She kept saying 'recalculating' ...it's funny NOW :) With a little patience and a ... read more

The next stop on our journey was Washington, DC. We packed as much sites as possible into 24 hours and our feet were killling us. Our hotel was walking distance from the Mall. So we walked. Starting at the Smithsoniam Castle working our way over to the Washington monument then on to the reflecting pool and the Lincoln Memorial. After a quick stop for lunch and a break for our feet, we walked over to the White House. The grounds were beautiful. Abbey wore uncomfortable flip flops which after so much walking made her miserable which she in turn decided to make us miserable. :) So we decided to take a cab ride back to the hotel so Abbey could change shoes. With Abbey once again happy (for the most part...she is a pre-teen after all) ... read more

Aunt Nancy and Tamsin welcomed us for our first night stay on our big vacation. What a perfect way to start out. We relaxed, played, laughed and enjoyed family. Tom, Cynara and Kate came for dinner. As always at Aunt Nancy's the food was wonderful and prepared with love. The kids got a huge kick out of all the funny website videos Kate and Tam showed them. I am sure they will be checking those out first thing when we get home. Tom cooked some Taco burgers (made w/pork) and Brats! Yummy! I just remembered that I forgot to get the recipe. (hint, hint) We also sat around the kitchen table and worked some small handheld puzzles. Kate was the Champ but eventually we all got pretty good. Such good times! After two nights it was ... read more
