By the way, I wrote this a couple of weeks ago. I am already returned from the Czech Republic and Poland. Ok, so I definitely needed to write an update on how everything’s going and my adventures in Paris. It’s just been a little hectic and I just haven’t had time. Since the last time I wrote, many things have happened. My dad visited in January and we went to Strasbourg together. I visited my friends in Lyon for a couple of days. I had all my work for the semester due in January and my finals were in February. Then, [View Full Entry]

sketchy, right?
Before finishing classes for Christmas break, a couple of my friends and I decided to go to Amsterdam for a weekend. It was a last minute thing, and much of what we did was improvised. Even the bus ride was a bit insane. We took an overnight bus to Amsterdam on a Friday, spent the night at a dirty hostel and then took another overnight but to Paris Sunday night. But it gave us two full days to explore the city. First of all, why is everyone in Amsterdam so chill? Liberal marihuana laws? Tolerated prostitution? Legal gay marriage? I don’t [View Full Entry]

Probably the nicest 13 euro a night place I've ever stayed in.
Ok so I haven’t exactly kept up with the blog. You see, I’ve had so much work and then I had Christmas break. I just haven’t had time to write. Well, as for my travels, I went to Bratislava and Vienna, then spent a weekend in Amsterdam and then spent two weeks home in Puerto Rico. About a month ago I was on my way to the airport with my friends Anna and Patrick to board our early morning flight to Bratislava, capital and biggest city in Slovakia. Every person we told, even a girl that was actually from Bratislava, questioned [View Full Entry]

Short update

 Europe » France » Île-de-France » Paris
UPDATE: -My birthday was almost a month ago (I’m posting the pictures). -My friends Georgie and Joey visited me for a weekend. -I went to Bratislava and Vienna (an blog for this trip is coming soon). Everything is good. I can’t wait to be in Puerto Rico for a couple of weeks. I need a break from France and the French. I need more chaos, more noise, the beach, my family and my friends. I know, I know. It’s been forever since I last wrote. I think the last thing you read was about my trip to Belgium and my rant about the strike. Well, we are currently on the 7th day of a second strike. I’ve heard that this is the union’s last chance. They won’t back down until Sarko changes his mind on the special pensions. So we can all essentially forget that there is a metro in Paris. Anyway, the biggest things that have happened since my last blog are: getting my carte de sejour (which, after all the hassle is just [View Full Entry]

Bonjour à tous! A lot has happened since the last time I wrote. I started my classes, I went to Belgium, and…I have cable now! So I guess I’ll begin with my classes. The “inscriptions pedagogiques” were rather painless and I was able to pick classes that I wanted. At Sciences Po, international students pick 2 cours magistraux (which are basically large lecture classes) with their conferences + 2 electives + 1 french as a foreign language class. Cours Magistraux: - Espace Mondial: I really like this class. I feel a little embarrassed because I had never heard of the professor [View Full Entry]

Ok so sorry in advance to everyone that doesn't speak Spanish. I just wanted to write this one in my language.

Mad weekend

 Europe » France » Île-de-France » Paris
Update: I currently have INTERNET!!! It feels so good to be writing this from my couch. I was beginning to feel so disconnected to the world but finally I am back in the 21st century. Anyway, last weekend my friends Patrick and Karima visited from the south of France. They go to Georgetown too, but they are spending a year at Sciences Po’s campus in Menton (right on the Côte d’Azur). They had been trying to make me feel jealous telling me how they go to the beach every day and how its 25° and sunny, so when they said they [View Full Entry]

Ok so I have received MANY requests from my loyal readers that I continue posting (alright so probably only like 3 people read this, but my mom wants me to write more). I feel more and more settled with every day that passes. I am now a client of BNP Paribas so now I don’t have to sign a receipt and hold up the line when I go grocery shopping (the French put their pin number when paying for things). Opening the bank account was fairly simple, although my friend and I could barely control our laughter throughout the entire process. [View Full Entry]

Yeah I know its very cliche. All three are from Georgetown.
Let me see how I put this. I’ve been two weeks in France and I still haven’t unpacked. My room is a mess, my clothes are everywhere and I really need to do laundry. On a more positive side, I’m beginning to really feel at home in Paris. It really is an amazing city. I’ve done so many things that I couldn’t write about them all. At least I can talk about last weekend which was pretty fun and is fresh in my mind. Last Saturday a couple of friends and I went to the so-called “Techno Parade”. We immediately felt [View Full Entry]
