After a (blissfully) uneventful journey from Peru, I arrived in Guatemala city on saturday evening. Once Imy had arrived from London, we got our transfer straight out of GC (murder capital of guatemala anyone??) to Antigua. Antigua (not to be confused with its caribbean beachside counterpart) is a beautiful colonial town in the south of the country. Waking up to a breakfast of eggs, plantain and refried beans (the latter of which would be a common theme over the next few weeks), we enbarked on what can only be described as the ultimate exercise in time management, namely how to see as many sights as possible in Guatemala in 10 days. We headed straigt out for lonely planet guided tour of the town (not aided by the lonely planet kindle font size which seems to have ... read more

Having left La Paz unable to remember what a good nights sleep felt like, I spent a blissful few days recharging my batteries in Lake Titicaca. I started on the Bolivian side, in Copacabana. I decided to splurge and spend the shocking 25 quid for the nicest hotel in town, which was right on the lake. Tucking into trout (local speciality) and a glass of wine over dinner, I then headed to bed at 9, for a well earned rest! The rest was well needed, as the next morning I was up early for my boat to the isla del sol, and the 5 hour hike from the south to the north island. Unfortunately the island did not live up to its name, and when we arrived it was pissing it down with rain. My guide ... read more

Salt filled salutations from Bolivia! Firslty, thank you to everyone who sent messages of support through the bag loss saga, they were much appreciated! The upshot of it all is that, having planned to leave the same afternoon for Sucre, I ended up staying in Santa Cruz until the following saturday afternoon. I spent most of Thursday at the airport whilst various gol airlines headquarters were called by my new non best friend Erica, only to be told eventually that it was 'probably somewhere'and would 'turn up eventually'. Once it had transpired that I wouldn't get it back that day, I made an executive decision to write it off, carry on with my travels, and do the only thing it is possible to do in moments of crisis - SHOP. Armed with the knowledge that I ... read more

Having ummed and aahed as to whether or not the plane journey of death was worth it, with vague jaded notions of having ´seen waterfalls before´, I was completely blown away by Iguazu. Alarm going off at 7, armed with mosquito repellent and sun cream, we set off on the ramshackle bus into the national park towards the falls. One extortionate entrance fee later (30 pesos for locals, 120 pesos for foreigners), we started the walk around the park to the first part of the falls. This walk, despite not actually being that far, took a lot longer than it should due to almost everyone around stopping every 30 seconds to take a photo. I was no exception, and you´ll all be pleased to hear that my 500 photos will be winging their way your way ... read more

Greetings, salutations and mosquito filled well wishes from iguazu falls! Dan and I arrived here this afternoon after the Plane Of Terror from BA, and am know currently chilling out in the most laid back hostel ever with a glass of wine. At any point I feel I am so relaxed I might pass out on the keyboard so appologies if the end of this blog turns into incomprehensible dribble. Just over 2 weeks have passed since the last entry, the fact that I have managed to see a blog through to not just one but 2 posts is achievement even by my low standards. I feel like I´ve barely stopped since I landed in BA, which is bizarre given that I have gone from having 10 to 12 hour days to just 3 hours of ... read more

Hello everyone! Greetings, well wishes etc from a land far far away.... I have finally capitulated and decided to write a travel blog to keep you all informed of my movements/ prove I am still alive!!! This has not been an easy task - I have wifi in the flat but no computer, just my blackberry (you try writing a blog using a keyboard made for midgets), and I managed to create a blog site last week and then mysteriously delete the e-mail with all the details on it. Imagine how technologically incompetent I was in London, and then combine this with travelling induced laziness and you´ll understand the delay! SO. Last Friday 3rd March, I was driven to Heathrow by my slightly terrified parents for my flight to Buenos Aires. As we sat in the ... read more
