Jaisalmer is a small town in the middle of the desert, 5 hours bus journey to the nearest city. As soon as we arrived it was like walking onto a movie set. The fort was easily the most impressive I have seen, it was like something out of Lord of the Rings or Indiana Jones. We stayed in a really nice hotel at the top of the fort with a great view over the town and surrounding desert. We managed to hitch a 7 hour ride with Dave’s mate Omi, his pretend girlfriend and his taxi friend Mr Chan to Jaisalmer! Now after nearly a week in India and so many near misses in transit we had done extremely well to avoid any crashes on the road (apart from me on my bike!). Our car a 25 year old Ambassador was built like a tank. Half way up a mountain in Jodhpur, the law of averages was about to be proven! After a horrible 10 hour bus jounrney in a “sleeper” we arrived at the relaxed town of Pushka . Pushka is a lovely small peaceful town set around a holy lake, surrounded by mountains. We both really like it here and are going to stay a few days. Although Dave had been conned out of 100 rupees (£1.30) already! The hotel we are staying in only costs 75p, it’s not the Hilton but its fine, apart from the pillow which is like a bag of cement, and the owner called Omi has the hots for Dave and is showing him [View Full Entry]

Agra On arrival this is a much less chaotic and cleaner city, much more appealing to the 40,000 visitors which arrive daily at the Taj Mahal, one of the wonders of the world. This is a huge monument mde from marble and gems by a King to show his love for his wife. (Should have bought some chocolates and flowers, would have saved a fortune!) This now houses both of their tombs. The culture here is very different, it’s normal for two guys to walk down the street hand in hand. The time is nearly upon us…. On the eve of turning a quarter of a century old, and our last Saturday night in England for a couple of years a night out was needed. What a night, after a few drinks in Riley’s 16 drunken lads and Dave missus went out on the town… As you can probably tell by the pics and the dodgy dancing lots of ale and Sambucca were consumed by all!!
