Catherine, her Dad and I took a 3 day trip to Wudang Mountain in Hubei Province. This mountain is located in a very remote area and contains a series of Taoist temples and complexes that were built around 680 AD in the Song Dynasty. It is also renowned as the birthplace of Wushu, the predecessor to most modern forms of martial arts such as Kungfu. This is also one of the rare examples of ancient structures in China that were relatively unharmed or destroyed by wars and revolutions. We begun the journey by taking a high speed train from Wuhan.
