Well first real trip OS. We have been saving our butts off to freeze them off in Europe. Nursing will just have to get by without it's best two nurses, a break well needed.

Well we have made it to the north of Scotland. We arrived in Glasgow and spent two very wet days there. It is a big city and isn't really tourist orientated, however it was lovely to get back to a English speaking country! We took the tourist bus and trekked around the city it was nice to look at. We had lunch at a quite Scottish pub where Troy ordered authentic Scottish Ale (hot and flat), Rhiannon didn't mind it. We then jumped on a bus (which cost a total of 11 Pounds for two) to Inverness. On the way up the country we saw SNOW thick beautiful white snow but.... we couldn't stop so Rhiannon once again has missed out on the snow angel experience. Inverness is the town closest to Loch Ness ....home of ... read more

9-13/01/2008 We made it to Amsterdam in one peace. It took a little while for us to find Rieky as she sent Gerrit in who we had never seen before, but after a couple of phone calls we manage to find each other and make our way to Rieky’s home. While we were at Rieky’s place all we seemed to do was eat. It’s all very good but we have put on some weight. The next day we ventured out to the markets. Rhiannon was impressed with the cheese stores and the amount of people who ride bikes. We then continued onto zutphen were Opa grew up. We managed to get some photos of the house. We also saw an old farmer who lived in the house next door. Rhiannon was really excited as he was ... read more

8/01/2008 Last day in Paris and we saw the Eiffel Tower, it was the coldest day in Paris so far and we decided today was the day to climb high. We caught the train to the Eiffel Tower, only to find out that that particular station was closed so we got off a station before and walked a mile in the freezing cold wind. Eventually got to the base of the tower and looked up, we couldn’t see the top due to the fog! The climb up was easy on the lift; we could only go to the second level due to renovations. The view was amazing none the less, windy but beautiful. On the way home we were accosted by a man wanting to draw our picture, he charged 60 Euro but we managed to ... read more

612008 Well the last couple of days have been very busy and magical, except the part we were fined because we did not realise we needed different train ticket. We spent the 2 days in the magical world of Disneyland Paris. The 1st day we spent in the main part, looking at everything and trying out all the rides. The first ride we went on we had to wait an hour. I felt like sheep. All we needed was a border collie nipping at our feet and jumping on our heads rounding us up. Luckily that was the most we had to wait for a ride the average time was about 12 hour. We went on all the rides we could fit in one day including; the temple of Doom, Pirates of the Caribbean, space mission ... read more

218 Stayed at a little place (and I mean little!) called Adare, not much here really. The B & B we stayed at had a bathroom the size of a closet….hang on it was the closet. There was a toilet AND a shower in this tiny room and water would drip on you from the roof (ice cold!) while you were sitting on the loo. We drove into Limerick and walked around a bit that’s about it. Troy did manage to find a nice Chinese takeaway which was very good. Drove onto Dublin today and booked into a 4 star hotel (which was nice compared to what we’ve had), they had a huge bath so you guessed it hot baths!!! Yay!!! Had the best meal we have had since leaving England at the restaurant, cost an ... read more

January 1st 2008

31/12 We woke up this morning to a “fry up” (bacon, egg, sausage, beans and tomato) which was well needed after a night on the Ireland town. What started out being a warm up night for new years with a couple of drinks turned out to be 5 or 6……..pints plus a couple of shots. We met up with another couple who were also staying in Killarney but happened to be Americans. A lovely couple who were teaches (English and maths and grade 3). The pub had a band that were playing some traditional Irish music with traditional instruments until 2300 then a live rock bad started to play, At 1200 Rhiannon dragged me home for the early start today. The bus picked us up at 1000 and we started off to the Ring of Kerry. ... read more

29/12 Picked up a Polo Astra hire care and drove to Waterford today from Dublin, it rained the whole way. Troy is a very good driver it’s fortunate they too drive on the left side of the road but being a European car the indicators are on the opposite side!!! Stayed in a lovely B&B just outside of Waterford run by a lady named Susan, she can talk a million miles an hour but she does a mean scrambled egg on toast. Waterford is home to the Waterford Crystal Factory (news to me to) they make very expensive crystal there, including all sorts of sports trophesy especially ones in golf and tennis, there were replicas of trophesy given to Tiger Woods and Andre Agassi. Couldn’t afford to buy anything but it was very nice to look ... read more

27/12 Flew in to Ireland on the smallest plane I have ever seen but hey it cost 1 pound (+taxes). It was still dark when we landed at 0730hrs. We didn't book a rental car before we left the UK, as our trusty guide (Chrissy) said you could book at the airport....she was right you could book a car at the airport BUT there were none left!!!!. Not all bad though turns out you would be mad to drive in Dublin so we caught a bus to the centre of town which so it happens was about 1km down the road from our hotel. Should have bought backpacks. Went to the tourist info centre where we had to book the rest of the accommodation and stuff for the rest of Ireland. The hotel looks lovely but ... read more

December 24th 2007

The flight The flight from Brisbane to Seoul was boring as there was only one tv at the end of the plain. The seats were not that comfortable but we made do. When we got to Seoul we got lost in the airport as not very many people spoke English. We ended up at the transfer level when we should have gone through immigration and customs to the hotel. With a little bit of sign language we managed to get to the hotel which was five star. We had dinner which was salad for starters, chicken bolognaise with pasta for main and some type of cake for desert. The next morning we were down having an all you can eat breakfast with bacon which tasted like cardboard when it started to snow. Rhiannon made me ... read more
