Even though it does say South Africa on this entry most of you will know that I'm actually in my dining room in Watford writing this.... Yes, after all the planning, shopping, fretting and excitement its all over! But I thought I'd stick my pics of South Africa up as it really was one of the highlights of the whole 5 months and I wish I'd had more time to explore but there's always next time.... Think my last entry was from Wanaka in the south island of NZ. It was a very picturesque place. I climbed Mount Iron and got some cool views of Lake Wanaka. Next was down to Queenstown. This is known for the adrenalin activities and the partying - of which I did neither! More hill climbing though and a day trip ... read more

I know it's been a few weeks since my last lot of photos but have an afternoon to kill so thought I'd indulge you lucky people. After a few days back in Buenos Aires, I took the long flight from Santiago in Chile to New Zealand - crossing the international date line which meant the 5th May 2005 didn't actually exist for me (not intentional Kaz my dear!). After arriving about 4am I took a bus straight from Auckland to Tauranga - a large (by NZ standards) town in the north of the North Island, to see Jules first off. After a night on the piss - which made me ill all day the next day as I was recovering from a dodgy tummy and a bit out of practice - I spent a few days ... read more

Hey all, The past three months have dragged and also flown by - I fly to NZ in a week. And it seems like I´ve saved the best photos til last! The past four weeks have been pretty much all sightseeing, not a drunken night out in sight! Spending my last week in Bs As though so serious stuff over and I´m sure there´ll be a few drinks about, plus a little more shopping! Well, last entry I was just leaving Cordoba. From there I went to Salta up in th NW of Argentina and met loads of people whol loved Cordoba so I guess I was just there at the worng time. Salta is a lovely little town headed up towards the Andes and there fore at a highter altitude. It´s really wierd when you ... read more

Hello to you all, Well I've finally left Buenos Aires - it's very easy to get settled in a city like that. As I said before, I absolutely loved it!! A really good 'vibe'about the place. Managed to get around to taking the odd pic or two which I've attached. Had a great time whilst Nor was here, she arrived St Patricks Day so a quick walk around then we hit the pubs. Surprisingly (or not I suppose, being St Paddys...) its massive over here - think I read that about 50,000 people were out in Bs As. We then headed up to the Iguazu Falls which were as spectacular as everyone had said and took too many photos of the same things! A trip to the largest hydro-elecric power plant at the Itaipu dam concluded ... read more

Hey there, No piccies for you lot on this one but I thought I would stick an update in as its been a few weeks.... Arrived in Florianopolis excited at the prospect of topping up my tan, to be greeted with heavy down pours and thunder.... Its actually rained every place I have been to, except the Pantanal and that could have done with some rain as it was so hot. The hostel I stayed in was cool though - a nice crowd, relaxed, a host of DVDs and card games to keep us amused in between the storms! Did get a few hours of sunbathing in though. Thats about all there is to tell about Florianopolis - stayed there about 8 days before heading to Buenos Aires. Jules - you told me you loved the ... read more

Hello all, Been fairly busy since the last entry. Rio was lots of fun, so much so that it was a kind of a groundhog day in the end - get drunk, sleep all day, rinse and repeat. Everyone was so knackered that they couldn´t be bothered to get on a bus but I got itchy feet and after 2 weeks of partying (yes, even me - managed a 9am finish once too!) I hopped on a bus to a small town a few hours from Rio called Paraty. Whitewashed buildings and cobbled streets etc. Is a port so managed a couple of proper meals too - lovely fish. Stayed for a few days to relax - lots of meandering down said streets, boat trip around some islands, a day on a very quiet beach (Ipanema ... read more

Been here 10 days now and the partying, late nights (or early mornings!) and booze are catching up on me a little! Not seen so much of Rio itself, done the obvious sugar loaf, Christ statue but mainly beaches and recovering from the night before! Went to the Sambadrome to see the parades last night so thought I´d share a few photos with you.... read more

Well finally made it after years of talking about it... Flight not too bad - bit long at 14 hours though... First experience of Brazilian driving wasn´t as bad as I thought but still pretty hair raising. My lack of the local language was apparant from the word go and really no-one speaks english. Getting by with my phrasebook though! First hostel was really nice, got talking to a couple of young irish girls who are really nice. Was sharing with an other couple and it turns out they´re from Harrow - which is a big coincidence in itself but turns out he´s actually went to st joans!! Very sound bunch. But had to move on today to another hostel, did´t really want to leave other place as the people are lovely and I was settled ... read more
