Asia » Indonesia » Bali September 30th 2013

Been a bit slack with the blog over the last few weeks, purely because my weeks have consisted of trying to develop my surfing so thought it best to wait and summarise. 13th September came which meant it was time to say goodbye to Lisa knowing that I probably wouldn't see her for potentially a few years as she is starting her Singapore adventure before I return home. Was actually quite an emotionally prospect as we have reflected a lot on our friendship/group of friends and all the fun/ridiculous/cringe worthy stories and times we have shared in the last ten years. Was so good to spend time together exploring the various places but above all spending the majority of the time laughing, accept when we were hungry or tired. Then we were vicious little pigs who ... read more

Asia » Thailand » North-West Thailand » Pai September 11th 2013

We arrived in Bangkok after a very sweaty boarder crossing with sullen looking guards. Probably quite a dull job but we gave our best pearly white smiles for the camera and entered the Kingdom of Thailand and boarded our third bus of the journey. The bus dropped us off at Khao San Road aka Thailands answered to Magaluf. Within 3 minutes I was asked if I would like to attend a ping pong show, I politely declined his kind offer and checked into our place. The next day we decided we needed to go shopping (Lisa had lost 3shoes by this point and a towel) so we headed to the most ridiculous shopping mall which had every shop you could want. The the only thing we wanted by the time we got there was the all ... read more

Asia » Cambodia » West September 1st 2013

I am writing this as we leave Cambodia and endure a 8 hour bus journey into Thailand. So far so good. I have been really immature and taken a photo of the Chinese man next to me who has fully embraced the head back, mouth open and lean position. He reminded me of one of the Simpsons when they sleep and dribble. Anyway, the past week. It has been an eye opening experience, I think that's the only way to put it. We enrolled at a Yoga retreat for 5 days, this included living like a vegan, yoga at 7am, meditation at various points through the day and chanting various pearls of wisdom. Although, I have no idea what these pearls of wisdom where as they were in another language. The founder was an interesting character ... read more

Asia » Cambodia » West August 24th 2013

Since I last updated the blog we've managed to add a spot of volunteering into our hectic sunbathing schedule. Well, teaching children how to read and write English was a test of my patience. Plus I kept on asking them to spell words that weren't phonetically correct which was riling lisa (Primary School teacher) apparently 'watch' and 'book' are too hard?!?! That night the idyllic island turned out to be Lisa's worst nightmare. I woke up to the noise of scratching and looked at her legs which had a total of 75 bites! She massively took one for the team as I had the total of...1...on my toe. Undeterred by this savage attack we met John, Mike and Naomi to walk to the back of the island which took about an hour. I was far from ... read more

Asia » Cambodia August 20th 2013

Can't believe it's been a week already! I'm writing this laying on our bed that is costing lisa and I £1.62 a night it includes: double bed, fan and mosquito net. An absolute dream (apart from the 6am sweats when the electricity goes off). So the day had finally arrived I was all packed, Dad arrived as promptly as ever at 4am and I was good to go. We looked at the screen and my first flight to Dubai was delayed. Rubbish. I had a stroll around duty free and it resulted in me smelling very good thanks to the Chanel counter and my skin was sufficiently moisturised thanks to the Clinque lady! Dubai was completely different to what I had expected, I am probably guilty of having a stereotype about how I thought I would ... read more

Testing out the blog to see if it works?! Feel free to read or ignore, please don't judge me on my spelling or grammar (MUM). This will be a little diary of my antics which i will update as often as I can, mainly because my memory is pants and if I don't write stuff down then I won't remember the places, people or sites I've seen!! As I am starting off with Lisa Webb I am sure there will be more than one story to tell... Mich x... read more
