Snow! The colors of the trees were stunning, and we were glad you got to have your snow ball fight. But we were surprised that, after all those dips in freezing lakes, Maytal wasn't ready for a touch of snow. Oh, well, at least she will get to return to the tropics soon. Nesya wishes she was there with you because you sound like you had a great adventure.
iceland BRRRR! Your pictures made us feel cold, even in Hawaii. But all the kids say they love snow, so thanks for sharing. Maytal looked cozy in the suit case. Selilah is ready to try that herself.
Beautiful lakes We loved the colors of the lakes. What a peaceful setting for your adventures. All the kids want to go horseback riding, too. Was it twice as bumpy as going down a rocky road in a car? Everyone thought bear Maytal was too cute. And we had to watch the swinging video three times for Selilah to be satisfied.
I guess it wasn't easy leaving such a beautiful area, All the pictures from the last monthes were astonishing. But from my point of view, I'm very happy knowing I will See my two very loved nephews in just less than a month (Oh, and my brother too)!!!
Your pictures from Argentina are unbelievable, Never seen such landscape. And it seems that Shakked and Amit won't forget these monthes ever (Maytal will stay with just a slight memory of a taste of a bush-berry..)
Hugs to all 5 of you from your Jerusalem uncle.
It's wonderful to get your latest blog 'davka' today, after being cut off from the world for two weeks no decent e-mail connection ... in Andalucía, of all places. How did the Spaniards manage to conquer almost the whole of South Africa so many centuries ago, but can't manage a decent internet connection today? We had a great time, though definitely NOT as adventurous as yours. Wonderful views, too. By the way, your nature pictures are super both beautiful and interesting. No comment needed on the kid pictures what's missing though are a few Noy grandchildren at grabbing distance, to be hugged and hugged and hugged. Tutu
Wow! Dear Maytal, Liora, Amit, Shakked, Ilan: Hard to imagine a more beautiful place! Classic photo of rainbow and donkey! And the pictures of you all together warmed my heart: what a great choice to travel altogether in such a varied natural environment while the kids learn Spanish! Looking forward to seeing you. Love, David
Hello Liora, Ilan, Shakked, Amit and Maytal, thanks again for the update on your travels and adventures. Your stories are so much fun to read and the photo's are really wonderful as well. We hope the five of you are continuing to do well on the road. I am secretly counting the months till we get to see you again...it's coming closer! I just came back from a super short trip to the Netherlands to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary with my family. My parents were very happily surprised since they didn't know I was coming! It looks like we will fly back again the beginning of July...my brother is getting married. We will be here in June though...! Love and aloha, Maaike
How happy you look! Amiel was very excited by your peregrine falcon story, as this is his favorite bird as well. He wished you took a picture of it, even if it's not stooping. Maytal looks like a cutie patootie dressed as a deer. Selilah would like to borrow her outfit. And all the kids would have liked to join you in the Otto Carts. You all look so happy. What a wonderful time you are sharing!
We salute the trekkers! We loved hearing about your trek, and wished we could have tested ourselves as you did. However, from the pictures of the bridge, I know I (Elizabeth) would not have made it, because you could not have gotten me to step onto that thing. So I salute your bravery! Nesya says I could have just gone through the water. What do you think, Amit? Would I have made it? Or perhaps we should ask the cold water expert, Maytal, but I guess we'll have to wait until she gains the vocabulary to describe her daring. The pictures of the enchanted forest and rainbow were lovely. Nesya laughed over Shakked's description of Amit's unfortunate plunge into the water. Amiel wants to know why Maytal tried to jump in the water from the bridge. We all wanted to try the chocolate volcanoes. I hope you are picking up some chocolate-making tips while you are there.
Camping is Fun! Well done all!
I agree that Campaneiro is one of the most beautiful view points there is.
To make better use of the tent space, and not be too crowded, try to put Meital in horisontal, just were the boys are sleeping, as they probably are not as long as the tent. This will free some space. That is how we slept, and it was very comfortable and cosy, though we were using a 3 people tent for the 5 of us.
For many more tent nights with fire. The 7 lakes drive is an amasing place to do more of this camping!!!
Ha ha! I was also thinking how aba/saba will react while reading the cliffs/graveyard story. That's really for him! I promise you Shakked that even the fact that while reading it he will know that it ended up fine won't really help!!!
The landscape seems really amazing and so are your stories, the only problem is that they are making me too jealous!! Argentina is a country I'd love to visit some day (never been to South America).
Shakked and Amit, it's so nice reading your stories.
Kisss to everybody
Tal
What fun! To us, this was your best adventure yet! We loved the picture of the three musketeers. You looked like you knew what you were doing, never mind Butterfly's stubborness. The kayaking sounded great. The views you showed us were stupendous, and Amiel said they reminded him of what he sees when he climbs the mountain in our backyard (though no snow). We laughed at Maytal's face when she was coming down the slide, and Amiel thinks she was really tough for swimming in that icy water. Nesya really liked the triple bunk beds and would have liked to sleep at the very top (although it might have been scary). Amiel wants to go with you next time you visit Patagonia! Thanks so much for sharing.
Amazing! Wow! Hiking in beautiful places, horseback riding, tree sculptures, getting lost (always important), dangerous cliffs. Looks like you're having a BLAST! I love all the pictures -- esp. the three muskateers and Maytal and Ilan on the slide.
Life is good here too (but quite as exciting...). Mika played two piano pieces in a recital and is narrator in a play at school (and preparing for her 10th birthday party). Inbal and Mika are starting a mother/daughter book club. Spring is my favorite time of year: everything about to happen. It's even better this year as I've finished up composing a piece, finishing up teaching a time-consuming course, and thinking about vacations little and big. It will be great to see all of you! Love to each one of you. David
Well! That's a story for Saba Benni! I mean your hike back from Indian's Head. I'll take pictures of him reading about it. If they're as funny as I think (hope?) they'll be, I'll send them to you. In any case, we are both developing an appetite for Argentina. The pictures I liked best this time: the 3 gentlemen on horses (or, rather, donkeys - according to Shakked's description), Maytal having mud baths, the lake and the mountains, Ilan looking very pregnant in the 'In a carved tree forest' picture, the Noys in the freezing water (not even the 'wild horses' you rode would have dragged me into the lake. And, of course, ALL the other pictures. Hugs and hugs and hugs. Tutu
We liked your pictures of the fossils. Amiel was really hoping for a shot of that saber tooth tiger. We couldn't believe you could get so close to the penguins, and we were surprised that Maytal didn't just waddle off and join them. They seemed to be just her size!! By the end of your trip, you guys will surely have earned the official title of world's best ice cream tasters or maybe best of the world's ice cream tasters. I think you all need to hug both your parents immediately for daring to take you on a 20 hour bus ride! The seats looked comfortable, but 20 hours is 20 hours!! Very long.
Glad the lioness didn't get you! The zoo pictures and descriptions were so interesting. We liked the set-up to feed the llamas and were glad the lions did not feed on you! We went to a similar museum to Prohibido no Tocar in Boise that had a harness you could use to pull yourself up in the air. We liked all the descriptions of food, and Ilan's cake looked yummy!
Wow! So sorry to hear that Maytal and Shakked were sick. We also have been battling germs here. Nesya has been the only one who has remained healthy! Lucky Nesya. We laughed when we heard that Shakked's favorite float was all about books. How incredibly appropriate for him! The costumes were beautiful. Thanks for sharing this amazing experience.
Chinese New Year? Sounds so fun. Loved all the colorful costumes and floats! When we saw the video Nesya was wondering if this was part of Chinese New Year, since she just took part in a noisy parade with her class for that.
Sorry it's so hot! You are making us truly appreciate the trade winds here. Amiel liked the pictures of the turtles, and he wants you to go to the Amazon rainforest and take more pictures of animals. What is Acai? Is it a berry? We were just wondering how Maytal managed to get it all over her face and body!
Eataly sounds delicious! Guess what! Our Saba's stepfather came from Lucca, and he and our Savta went and visited there a few years ago! It must have been fun to be in Italy. Their version of hot chocolate sounds perfect to Nesya, and we laughed at the picture of the pasta vending machine. When Elizabeth was 6, she travelled with her family to Italy, too, but she was not brave enough to go up the Tower of Pisa. Nesya says I'm a scaredy cat, which is true, I am scared of heights, and, hey, that tower was already leaning, it didn't seem like it would take much to topple right off the top. The carousel looked like super fun. Did you ride it every day? We hardly recognized you in all your winter gear, seeing as we've never seen you dressed like that before. Was there any snow?
Happy (belated) birthdays Sorry it has taken us so long to reply. Your pictures really captured the joy of your visit, and boy do the men in your family have a strong genetic stamp from your grandfather!! The birthday cake looks good to the kids. What flavor was it? If it was Nesya' birthday, she'd prefer chocolate. Did you manage to blow all the candles out? Imagine when you have to deal with 120 of them! Selilah says Happy Birthday to Maytal, and may she have many more slices of cake in her lifetime! Everybody was impressed with Amit's spider. He'll have to teach us how to do that when he returns. The museum looks fun. I wish we could see it, says Nesya. The flowers in the museum were very beautiful, and Nesya wishes she could see them with her very own eyes, though Shakked description made us feel like we were there. In all of the pictures Maytal is a cutie-patootie!
