I'm so glad that you and your family have this opportunity to travel together. I am impressed with the journaling from the boys. Such wonderful observations and discoveries for young eyes and minds. Wishing you and your family a wonderful Happy New Year.
memories I went to Mexico as a little girl with my parents 60 yrs ago.To this day the names of the two mountains, Popocatepitl and Isticiwatl, still come easily to my lips. Aren't the two supposed to be brother and sister mountains? I remember riding a burro at night to get closer to seeing an active lava display; not sure where that was. The burro driver offered me some cheese, and my father appeared out of nowhere and knocked it from my hands. He was a doctor, and I guess he saw germs everywhere, but I was very embarrassed.
Voladores Wow! Cool! Nesya wonders: How do they keep from banging their heads on the pole as they swing around? Amiel wonders: How long can they do that without throwing up? Saba wonders: How can they do that without all the blood rushing to their heads? Selilah wonders: How do they get down? And Elizabeth wonders: Do they end up with one leg longer than the other?
Thanks for all the wonder.
GRASSHOPPERS!?! EWWWW! We liked the video of the pinata. Shakked had a good swing. Were you guys down on the ground scrambling for candy, too? What kind of candy was inside? Everybody says, "EEEWWWW!!!" about the grasshoppers. We'll just take your parents word for it that they're salty. The ice cream, on the other hand, sounded veerrryy good. Can you add a picture of Oso? With a name like that, he must be really big. We thought the mountains around the village looked a bit like the Koolaus. Did the mountains remind you of Hawaii? Nesya is glad her school doesn't last as long as yours, but I bet it flies by because what you are learning is so interesting and useful. We see from the pictures, that it is not just your parents who are trying new culinary delights. Tell Maytal to stop eating the camera!!!
Your children are so incredibly bright! I will miss your beautiful and difficult accent and sweetness. kudos to you and your family for your bravery and sense of adventure.
Looking forward to more adventures! It is so fun to follow your travels in words and pictures. We are vicariously traveling with you! Looking forward to more! Enjoy!
I liked the skull and the Mayan preschool pictures. Each looks funny in its own way. As to the creepy picture, there are much more creepy catacombs in Sicily - I walked out after 20 seconds, couldn't stomach it. Shakkedi writes about the beautiful stone of the sun. Is there no picture of it? Maybe I missed it - I'll look again. And, Amiti, by the time you come to Israel you'll know 100 (or 1,000) times more about Mexico than I do!

Poor Maytal Glad to hear Shakked is doing better. Nesya says she feels sorry for Maytal because she's left out of all the big boys' fun. But Nesya is still glad Maytal's a baby because baby's are fun (even if they grab your hair). The kids really liked the description of the voladores. Nesya said she could climb up a pole like that, but as I continued to read your description of the act, she got noticeably quiet. Guess we don't have a future bungee jumper in our midst! Amiel thought the art was cool, especially the statues, the skeleton, and the skull. We hope you are now all healthy and having a good time.
Cool. Sorry to hear Shakked is sick. It's no fun to throw up. Amiel wanted to see the fire god, and both he and Nesya wanted to see the voladores. More, more, more!!
Hunting Deer Dance? Maybe if there is a hunting dance you could do a hunting hula? (Not too many deer in Hawaii, except on Lanai, though.) It would need a little adapting, but I could see you doing the movements.
I am enjoying following your travels and your comments!

Happy Travels! I'm so glad to hear that you arrived safely in Mexico City. Please update your blog often so I can share with the 5th grade class about your travels. I'm happy that Shakked likes his new book. I wouldn't be surprised if he already knew about everything in the book. It will make a good reference guide. I hope Shakked is feeling better today. Take care and safe travels.
Wish we were there! We hope you have a good time travelling and that everything goes as planned. We wish we were travelling, too.
Did Maytal make a mess eating her ice cream? Amiel is betting she did. And Nesya wants to know if the ice cream was different from what we get here? Good for Maytal standing up like that. Everyone thought the statues were really cool.
Kol Ha'Kavod You guys are a true inspiration, i hope we will follow your footsteps soon!
I added your blog to my favorite site so keep writing all the time as we will be following you.

Shakked and Amit's description of the pyramids are so detailed. I almost feel like I'm right there with your family.
