back on the road... hey sally, i love to read your story's, sounds like quite an adventure. while you were chasing the monkey, we try to grab some snow in the swiss mountains :-) have fun, take care xxx
Raj Palace... It's all coming back to me. Wonder if a slim guy called Suneel is still teaching there. Wish I was with you and kiss all the monkeys for me :) xo
Oh......the dogs and snakes! I wish I was there with you. Please take tons of photos. Yuba Raj said he met up with you again in Delhi. Can't wait to hear more stories. Be safe. xoxo
Come on! Come on! Come on, come on! You can't skive off in the middle - we need more news, and now - not tomorrow!
Don't allow food to get in the way. You know what the monk said, 'Shally, I think you came two years ago and then you were thin. Now you are a little bit fat' - so don't let food stop you. Anyway that was about 6 hours ago; are you still eating??
Hope all goes well with the strike; trust it to happen now!
Allswell here. Renovations creeping along but hopefully the bedroom and bathroom will be ready for Sue and Bill. Take care
And now ......it's time to to have a blow out. Whfuff, the food I have got in the fridge; you would not believe it!
Lol XXXXXXXXXXX
4* hotels are more your thing.... i'm glad to hear you have moved somewhere nicer. Sounds like your travels are exciting (of course) and full of dramas (what else would we expect!). Have fun!

Empowering the Coaching Relationship Hello, Sally. Seems like your having a very interesting time. Your blog is very inspiring and you should be very proud of what you have done to date. You've not mentioned whether you've attempted to coach anyone yet. Although, I can see you are definitely empowering yourself. Talk about reframing negative statements and overcoming limiting beliefs! Moving to an air-con hotel overlooking the ganges was a master stroke. Well done!
I look forward to your next entry. In the meantime, I trust you will remember to touch yourself appropriately... to anchor your positive state when you need it most.
Enjoy your journey. Keep smiling
Wow Sally Hi Sal,
great to see you on the road again - enjoy. Glad you're a smug vegetarian...I'm still an omnivore but if it came to bird flu in India I might just try veggies only.
Love Tess and the family (who haven't seen a dentist for goodness knows how long.....)
This is much better than postcards. Sooo glad to see a lifesign - Paul and I were beginning to wonder... Knew you'd be ok, a braver person than you we've seldom met! I think I'd prefer the mountains than the heat, even here in WsM we had around 30C the other week which made it difficult to sleep! We're off to Finland in a couple of weeks for the summer, and I can get to an internet cafe quite easily every now and again from the island, to follow your adventures. Do take care, although I know you do, with those rabid animals, used to be one of the bigger scares in Africa. The monkeys sound rather nasty, I did not like the baboons in Africa, nor the 'apes' on Gibraltar, one of whom attacked Anja last Easter. Still haven't found another dentist... I haven't tried too hard, although I should as our 6 month check is due...Scott had his GCSEs and is now hoping for at least 5 C's to get him into 6th form in Churchill in Sept. Results not out until we get back from Finland in the end of August. You wouldn't believe how he's grown the last 6 months, much taller than I now. Love Tess xx
Me??Accident prone?? Actually the above is not quite true. I slipped on a very wet and slippery bathroom floor but nothing worse than bruises!...and the ankle is ok!!
Hi Grumpie Rumball Now you've gone she's fallen in another hole in the road!!!!! - only minor injuries this time. Why do they make the roads with holes in them out there?
It's a wonder she didn't have a heart attack with that taxi trauma and the heat along with all she was carrying. Think she needs resident medical care. she seems to find all the holes in the road!
Thank you for all the extraordinary help you gave her when she was so disabled (and also to Mike, if he is reading) - You were both GREAT friends - we don't know how she would have managed without you.
Are you back in NY now? - or still travelling?
Regards, The Brummies (Mad dogs Mum and dad)
Scarey Spice....... Helloooo!! Long time no speak. Glad you are enjoying- don't know whether even Nic had read it though!! How's Phil getting on? ( you can email me on that one- Nic has my travel email) .
Things get better- am now living in a monastery ( VERY INTERESTING!!!)- Will update all shortly.
Sister mad dog mo xx
Still keeping Mark Warner in business??!! Toby Hammond!Typical bloody man on a typical male time schedule! Don't worry I've only been away 3 months and now you pop your head up and say 'hi!'.
If you've found some more work for me in Turkey I'll catch my flight and be on my way!I'm sure your MW bar stories will make a better Mills and Boon bestseller than mine. In the meantime I've heard reports that my car is missing its normal gastronomical treats of you shoving your home-made rock cakes up its exhaust ........
Hi Sal, got on your blog for the first time today expecting a few lines not a bloody novel - still, changed a couple of names, ignored your copyright bull...t and i,ve now got a publisher interested in Toby's Travel Adventure. There's a lot of things I'd like to comment on but reckon I should keep it clean as it sounds like everyone is reading this - so haven't got too much to say. We,re off to Mark Warner in a few weeks so dont worry I'll send your love to Mustapha who still tells all the guests stories of your topless dentistry around the pool.
Anyway Sal glad to hear you're in one piece and having fun
Toby x
This is the funniest yet! Where do you think it all up from, Sal? This blog has had me in fits. More of this stuff please. You should be writing sit coms, books, or in journalism - you are wasted in Medicine! Lol xxx
poor u Dear Sal,
We are sorry to hear about the latest happenings in Kathmandu. We hope your slaves are serving you well. You are such a bloody drama queen, can´t you just travel like a normal person and not lose things and do your self injuries? Bristol has obviously not prepared you for roughing it. Maybe Kathmandu lies too high above sea- level and you should stick to flatter grounds. Joachim says that even the Black Forest might prove too dangerous for you - you´d need good ankle supports. Anyway sweet, we´re hoping you can stand on your own two feet very soon. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Missing you.
Lots of love, hugs and kisses,
Shukra and Joachim
LOL!! That was grumpy slave writing sitting at a computer opposite me!!... Who then went out and bought me rum balls! So life here ain't that bad!! I am training him up to be as good as slave no1 ( water bomber) who quit the job today as he couldnt keep me adequately supplied in rum balls! No seriously, the remaining member of my group left today to go to India ( sob!) so I'm on my own again ( excluding my disabled leper colony friends of course)
harem of slaves? damn well I take offense to that... but before I complain lets go over the complexity of a phrase "harem of slaves". Slave is an unpaid worker who has to obey every order under threat of being punish or possibly killed... Harem is a group of beautiful women/men that provide pleasures (sexual/sensuals) to the master... Now I carry you around (so you can use the loo multiple times a day) willingly (or I don't want you to pee on yourself) so there goes the slave part. I also bring you Rum Balls willingly so you don't mess up your leg doing Bugs Bunny up and down Kathmandu finest roads. And as far as the harem part goes: I rest my case since gentelman never speaks. And besides that I'm the only "slave" you've got left so you better be nice to me.
clomp thud clomp thud clomp!! .....the sound of me shuffling down the corridor!
Hi Tess and thanks for your best wishes! It's not a major diasaster as long as no permanent damage- it forces me to slow down and take some time out , read some books on nepalese history etc ( ha ha!as if! ). Besides India is having a heatwave at the mo!
Had heard on the grapevine ref some Finnish heavy metal band and Eurovision- you must be delighted!!!
Now monsoony over here and heavy rain and thunder outside...oh well will just have to send out for some cappuccino and goodies!!
Oh Sally..... I can't bear this happening to you! You do make me laugh though, but believe me we are all sending strenghthening thoughts to you and hope your ankle gets better very soon. Does this mean you're stuck in Kathmandu? My brother's parents-in-law spent some years in Kathmandu and they said it was quite a busy city, I've got a little Nepalese rucksack they gave me. And a hand puppet!
On another note-Finland won the Eurovision song contest! First time ever, so now I'm the local hero in Weston-super-Mare!
Keep writing, we look forward everyday to see if there's anything new from you, Love Tess xx
Yes,..beautiful but dangerous. That was a great blog Sally, I'm so glad you're enjoying and feeling moved by the mountains. Paul and I have unfortunately more than 1 friend who has met their end close to where you are. You may know I pushed for Paul to become a professional musician rather than the mountaineer which was his other choice; I found out you see, that the average life expectancy of such a one is something like 40 years.... but what a life, eh? Lots of love and hope you feel better soon, Tess xx
Just trying to take it all in! Wow Sally - sounds like you are just having the most incredible time - your toilet stories remind me of mine in India! Tibet is a place i have always wanted to visit so am deeply jealous! Scenery looks stunning - i want to be there!!
p.s. Can definitely compete with those pigs on the belly front - getting more rounded by the day! - will email properly soon to your other address xx
The mountains are so beautiful....... Hi Tess- good to hear from you! Still enjoying the blogging and my Bangkok blog has had around 160 hits now ( in fact quite a few have over 100) so somebody must be reading them! I'll keep writing as long as people keep reading!
Did some yoga in brilliant sunshine and fresh mountain air with buddhist chanting in the background on our rooftop today ( so stunning views!)- it was pure bliss ! Tibet really IS amazing!
Oh no! Serious jetlag! Hence sitting looking VERY rough at a hostel internet terminal at Venice Beach, LA, at 5am while my roommates try to out-snore one another.Following much exhausting clucking and arm-flapping ( to no avail) I have learned lesson 1- don't try to discuss the current world situation of bird-flu if language differences preclude even swapping the most general niceties- it aint gonna happen!!
Anyhow, currently embarking on a round the world tour involving Los Angeles, New' Zealand, Thailand, China overland through Himalayas and then into India for up to 6 months.Far too old to... full info
