similar experience
reading your entry reminds me of my first indian experience a few weeks ago in Mumbai. This country is wild, unfortunately I don't think I will make it to Calcutta. Happy Journeys. http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/India/Maharashtra/Ajanta-Caves/blog-552401.html

I love India, and I love reading other peoples first impressions of what is, as you've already grasped, a incredibly complex country. With time, the complexities will multiply, and the clarity that time in a country normally engenders will, beautifully, only lead to more confusion! With India, the more you learn the less you know. That is its inherent charm. Really great pics by the way, especially that one of the market. Enjoy.

We understand!!
We stayed at Charapoana near Uepi and did not realise the lack of alcohol availability until too late!! Moved after a few days when our livers were happy again to Matakuri...had them stop at the bottle shop in Seghe on the way so we could ensure that we did not miss the warm beer experience!! Lastly, Solomon Airlines lost my husband's booking for the flight back to honiara even though he had a ticket....well, the guy at the airport was our host's uncle so no problems!! First thing we did in Honiara was had a cold Sol Brew!!

Expected to hear more ab Cambodia
Dear Aaron I am following your travels as closely as possible. It makes me feel like I am right there with you sometimes. I had been reading up on Cambodia after hearing you would be there and learned that it is one of the poorest countries in the world. Did you find that fact to be obvious when you were there? Keep your blogs coming. Love, Nana

sorry about yer luck
Man that's a whole lot of awful man. Sorry about your luck. It's good the doctor was in attendance. Hope Singapore goes better. Watch out for the underage sex slaves. I hear they can be quite persuasive...take care brothers.

Installment #4
Delightful chapter. Killing wild boar is a valuable talent to acquire...could serve you well in future endeavors. You are aquiring that weathered/well-travelled appearance...consistent I suspect with frequent phenomenal diving as well as the inconsistent and trying yet somehow acceptable passing of irrelevent time. Daily challenges aside, I'd like to be in your back pocket - sharks included. Stay safe...continue breathing in and out ALynda

love the coral shot, hate the dead carcass!
Hey, Not sure if I can respond this way but we'll see! Some great pictures and wild stories! Gotta get me some of that kava! So glad your writing if for no other eason than to document things you might otherwise forget or black out! Are you in or near New Guinea yet? We watched the BBC series Planet Earth -really incredible photography and there were some spectacular shots on NG. Got really excitied for you cuz I know how much you want to get there! 9 days til we head to Bonaire- should be an interesting group. Tell you all about it. The addition we building is 1/2 done and we're living in 1/2 our house while they break through. Ah the essence of sheetrock dust! I'd pass on the fruit bat but I'm sure the fresh produce must be amazing! Going to sit down to my cornmeal crust 3 cheese pizza! Now I'll bet you're jealous:-) Glad to hear all is well and the adventure continues in high fashion! Be safe. Love you, Trish

Vicarious Living
Yo Krafty, Glad to hear of the adventures and stories. I knew i would live a bit through your journey and hearing about them on the net, but now that I am out with a broken femur and dislocated elbow, all the more so. You may experience a cyclone, but at least there are no avalanches in the south Pacific.

Thank you for the interest. Coming from a real traveler like you, it is a real compliment. Im a huge fan of your travels as well as your writing. After some of your experiences out there, Mon area might seem tame at first, but if you give the area enough time, money, and patients, I know there is much to explore and learn. I have become fascinated with the Naga culture and history. If you do visit the area, everyone there told me it is the best in April when all the Konyak villages celebrate in massive festivals. It sounds like a wild and hair raising time! Enjoy man, and keep the stories a coming.
