Guten Tag everyone! We have been quite busy since arriving in Munich last Thursday. Finally found some time and a reliable internet cafe to update this blog. Tomorrow we will take the midnight train to Prague. It has been mostly overcast with some rain here, everyone says that this is unusually bad weather for this time of the year. Nonetheless we are enjoying this city and making the most out of our time. We have visited several castles built by the royals of Bavaria (the Wittenbachs) including King Ludwid II. A late 19th century eccentric monarch. His most famous legacy might [View Full Entry]

More Paris

 Europe » France » Īle-de-France » Paris
Bon jour everyone! Tomorrow is our last day in Paris, we will certainly miss this wonderful city. I will be posting some pictures of the hotel and neighborhood we are staying in as well as pictures of our last days here as soon as I can. The Hotel St. Louis Bastille is located in the 11 arrondisment not too far from the Marais. I would highly recommend this petit hotel, great staff, super clean and tasteful decor. Hotel St. Louis. Today we took a day trip to Versailles. If the word fabulous was to describe one thing this would be it. [View Full Entry]

I know I couldn't have come up with a more cliched title but with over 30 million tourist per year, it would be hard not to. After 3 days of exploring I finally found time to update this blog, please pardon the typos, blame it on the French keyboard. It's the only thing I don't love qbout this city. We have seen most of the blockbuster sights except for Versailles which we will do tomorrow. The weather has been mostly overcast and the temperature in the 70s. Even without the sun Paris is perfectly beautiful. Everything is the right scale, almost [View Full Entry]

Euro Visions After a long hiatus from travel I will be on the road again for 6 weeks this summer. Here is a map of my planned itinerary: map It will take me from the heart of Europe to the continent's eastern edge. Except for Prague, the trip will take me to places I've never been to. Hopefully this trip will be as thrilling as my 2002 sojourn. I'm extremely excited, especially since John is joining me for the first 3 weeks. With 2 weeks to go before we bid Chicago adieu, we have done most of the necessary p [View Full Entry]

Breathtakingly set amidst mountains and sea, Vancouver is definitely one of the most naturally picturesque cities I’ve ever visited. I’m here presenting at a conference and thus was holed up at the hotel for the past 2 days. With much relief the presentation went well, informative albeit humorless. Saturday morning I was able to escape the confines of the symposium hotel and did one of the things I enjoy most about traveling…wandering around alone. Like a homing pigeon I found Davie St, which (judging from the lampposts festooned by rainbow banners and the store windows di [View Full Entry]
