As i am now comfortably back at home in the M. Dot, the rest of this blog is basically for my own memory's sake, haha, cuz chances are I'll be talking to most of you about my trip in person! May 11/09 I wake up freezing cold, woken up by 2 fighting cats. I have never heard cats yeowl (made-up word) like that. Only in Greece. With a wakeup call from the bball player, we head to our complimentary breakfast (egg, toast, croissant). After which i head to town in search of a bank. I get my refuel in money (YAY!) and attempt to walk back to the buses, which proved to be extremely difficult since all the streets in Mykonos look EXACTLY THE SAME. Narrow cobblestone streets surrounded by white buildings and obscure Greek named ... read more

May 9/09 We leave Santorini after dropping off our ATV's (Sad days...) today. Our hostel owner drives us to the ferries (the island is so small, so pick up and dropoff services are offerred by ALL hostels! soooo convenient!), and i am happy to announce that WE DID NOT MISS IT! yay! We pay a very sketchy 56 cents "port tax", which is collected by 3 casually dressed guys sitting on a bench (SKETCHY), then go onto our "Flying Cat" ferry to Myonos. After a nauseating 2 hour journey, we were there! I automatically see the difference between Santorini and Mykonos. The houses were ALL WHITE! No pastel coloured buildings were seen, but what can only be described as little white sugar cubed houses with brighly coloured doors and window frames. I definitely abused the "colour ... read more

May 8/09 We wake up later than ever today, and at 11AM, we head out to RENT ATV 4-WHEELERS! so excited! At Fira, we test drive them, and absolutely loving them, we rent 3. They're exactly like driving a car, but without gas pedals. Brakes and accelerators were controlled solely by the hands. But being able to drive these vehicles on our own, ANYWHERE on Santorini gave us the feeling of total freedom! We could stop anywhere we wanted, go anywhere we wanted, and feel the wind beneath our helmet-ed hair! Funny thing, while Michelle, Ruby and I got an ATV that had a sign saying that it could be operated by anyone over 12, Annie, worried the ATV vehicle rental guy, who clearly thought she was too young/incompetent to drive, so he gave her an ... read more

HUGE BLOG ALERT. May want to take breaks. ---- May 7/09. Today was a BIG day! We paid for a tour to Nea Kameni (a volcano island), Palea Kameni (hot springs), Thirassia island (small port town), and Oia (most beautiful town in Santorini, seen in sisterhood of the travelling pants 1 AND 2). BUT Karen is SUPER sick with a fever, so unfortunatley she had to stay back at the hostel. We get picked up by a large tour bus, then off we go. We head to the port via a sloping, winding, small road - half petrified at crushing oncoming, smaller cars, and half fascinated @ the driver's nerve and skill, we find ourselves safe @ the port. We then board the boat ("I'm on a boat!"), and we take off to Nea Kameni. Quick ... read more

So here's my blog part for Santorini! For those who have been keeping up, you guys are awesome! =) I hope you all have been enjoying it! Since we only had one day to see all of Athens, we hauled ass! We were up adn out at 10AM., and off we were to the Acropolis. OUr hostel was at teh center of everything, so getting to the Acropolis tookl ess than a half hour's walk. Even though we got lost on uor way, the path we got lost on was beautiful! Narrow streets, steep hills lined with Greek buildings, plants and quaint restaurants with tables sprawled out onto the street, ... read more

May 4/09 (This one will similarly be a doozy. enjoy though!) On our plane to Athens on Aegean Airlines, we get served a Greek dinner of pasta, Greek salad with a massive chunk of feta cheese on it and bread rolls. Once again, it was delish! Mark my words - from now on i'm only traveling on flight companies from a diff. country - just solely for the food. After watching Bride Wars (bad movie.), i passed out unconscious, and unbeknowst to me, Michelle proceeded to sketch my graceful sleeping form, complete with open mouth, neck rolls, and probably a little bit of drool. awesome. When landing time came, I was in for an amusing treat. Unlike Air India, where the plane landed in silence, when the Aegean place began its descent it was met with ... read more

T-minus 1 day til Eurotrip 2009! So, similar to two years ago, i'm going to try to keep up a blog about the europe travels, just for memory sake (because if i don't write about it, chances are i'll forget about the whole trip in a few months time.), and so that my mum and dad know that i'm still alive and kickin'. hopefully i'll be able to find time and internet access throughout the weeks. basically i'll be sacrificing naps to hog hostel computers and write! whoooo! sleep is for the weak. SO the plan: Who? Michelle, Ruby, Annie, Karen, meee! Where? London -- Greece (Athens, Mykonos, Santorini) -- London -- Dublin -- London (Clearly, i love London) When? May 2 to the 19th, yay! anyway, once again - i hope you guys enjoy reading ... read more

I'll write it in point form, since i know u guys love to read my point form blogs (u lazy asses). so here is what i learned/experienced here in ENGLAND! - pylons are not pylons here in england. pylons here are telephone/electricity poles. pylons are called cones here. interesting. - i ate spotted dick. and it was good. now before you guys think i've become some weird little...weird person, i'll explain. spotted dick is a popular english dessert. It's basically a raisin muffin surrounded by custard. apparently the muffin is traditionally made with animal fat. mm... - i like custard. ... read more
