Nowadays, I often feel like saying to myself, “We aren’t in Kansas anymore!” I believe when you first arrive in a new place every person goes through several stages of adjustment. For me, the first stage is excitement. Everything seems fun and new and the whole world is at your fingertips. The second stage is somewhat like depression. Nothing is new or exciting anymore, and you just wish that familiar things could surround you again. In Hanoi, I have found that even the smallest tasks are hard. Figuring out where to eat dinner every night is a challenge. Some nights I wish I could just stay home and cook or order take out. Even cooking and take out are hard when you are not able to tell people your address or you cannot find familiar foods
