hello all, well today i woke up as fresh as a diaisy ...... zzzzzzzzz all night , thank god !!!!! so i was up, washed, dressed, breakfasted and out by 9am ......... fist port of call was to go and buy tickets for King Lear at the Opera house for tonights performance, I'll come back to the king later on. After that i went on a lovely walk around the Botanical gardens that are opposite the opera house. The most gorgious gardens on the most beautiful day, there are signs all around the gardens saying " please walk on the grass, smell the roses and hug a tree or two" ...... so after a very interesting guided tour that told me all about the vegetation and their increading problem wiht bats (huge fruit bats, hundreds of ... read more

so .....Iarrived and booked into the greatest youth hostel, its in an area called The Rocks in central Sydney, there's a roof top terrace that overlooks the bay. The Opera house and bridge are literally 5 mins walk away !!!! I'm sure that mum and Marilyn will be pleased to hear that I've made lots of friends already, I went for a walk around with Sarah who is my roomie, we're in a 4 bedded dorm, (bottom bunk for me). The harbour is truly spectacular, amazing views with a lovely chilled our feel about it. There are street musicians and didgeridoo players everywhere. The Opera house is really beautiful, I can't really believe I'm here yet, partly due to massive amount of jet lag, 3 days without zzzzzzzz so far, so I'm hoping to get some ... read more

Awake since 2am ..... jet lag insitu !!! Today I went to Ocean world which is a theme park on Hong Kong Island, at the bus stop I got chatting to a woman who was also going to the park with her 3 kids, turns out she's a nurse in ITU in Derriford hosp ! So obviously it seemed sensible to go around the park together as I was on my own and she was on her own with 3 kids !!! great little family, she reminded me of Fiona, and her little girl aged 2 (called Scarlett) was the image of Lois !! so all in all i felt very at home. The park was really good, shows with dolphins and sea lions, massive cable car that went up miles to give 360 degree views, ... read more

well yesterday was a tad hazy i have to admit, jet lag plus the remnants of a sleeping tablet from plane made it all a bit woozy !!!! but managed to go and see the famous light show at the harbour. It does what it says on the tin, lots of HUGE hotels all with lazer lights shining into the sky in time with music. Very impresive. Then today i overslept due to a combination of knackerdness and great ear plugs !!! anyway missed breakfast and went on to ride the Star ferry accross to Hong Kong Island ( i'm staying in Kowloon, which is a bay away) I then went on a hillside tram that is at 45 degrees its soooo steeep. This takes you up to The Peak which is ontop of the Island ... read more
