Well, then rain has finally given way, and around 19h30 I was able to go for a good wonder around central Singi for the first time. Wow! This place is amazing at night, it so beautiful all lit up, its no wonder its a night race for the F1 here. I took the ever efficient metro downtown to Raffles Place to go to the amazing hawker centre that is Lau Pa Sat festival market. Its an incredible covered market full of wonderful cheap Asian food. I had Fish Ball Noodle, which cost SG$3 (2.3 to the pound), which was really tasty and very filling. ... read more

Its 16h00 here and its been raining most of the day. I'm not complaining, after a long night bus, its quite nice just to chill out, and this hostel is a great place to do so. I'm staying at Sleepy Sams (www.sleepysams.com), at the heart of the Muslim quarter of Kampong Glam. Bus journey over was fine, untill we got to the Singapore side of customs and realised the bus wasn't taking us any further! Had to bribe another coach driver was RM10 (About GBP1.80) to take me into the city centre. Got off the bus and realised that I had no SG$'s and not a clue what street the hostel was on. After an hour of wondering I'd found a cash point and the hostel (had to ask for directions in the end) and all ... read more

Well, after KL I took the night train up to Butterworth and from there it was just a quick 10min ferry over to the Island of Penang and the town of Georgetown where I've been for 4 nights. I've had a great time, the weather has been hit and miss, but always hot and humid! I've been dining nearly exclusively on Indian food whilst I've been here. Little India has some great little restos, my favourite being restorin Kapitan, where I ate nearly everyday. I am taking the night bus to Singapore tonight, I was going to go at a later date, but what the hell.... read more

Well, the departure for my trip finally came and went. Left Manchester 09/11/09 at 13h30 and arrived in KL at 14h30 10/11/09. Changed planes in Dubai, so it was only two, 7 hour flights. Its currently pissing down a monsoon outside, it suddenly went dark, then the lightening came, swiftly followed by the rain, that was about 2 hours ago and it hasn't stopped yet! Although I can't complain that much, as the temperature has now dropped below 30c and I don't sweat when I breathe:) It was a bit of a shock to the system, leaving Wales at around 8c and arriving here where its about 36c! Today is my last full day in KL and I went up the Petronas Towers this morning, which was really cool, but as its been raining all afternoon, ... read more
