It was a couple days of big driving from El Salvador to reach Costa Rica. The girls were anxious for Roguers arrival and he was overjoyed to get back with them. We headed off early in the morning saying goodbye to the implausible waves and stunning beach of La Libertad. We knew we had a big day ahead. We were attempting to cross two international borders and drive much distance in a single day. To cross one Latin American border in a day is an assignment unto itself that we were planning on much more was a case of urgency and partial lunacy. But, we did it. Roguer handled all the panderers brilliantly, with the constant molesting and confusion at the border things can seem very improbable of functioning but with a lot of patience and ... read more

Well hello everyone, my apologies for the lack of input as of lately. It has been a time of change and travel. This is the first correspondence that I, Roguer have made. The last you heard of snowball, the hippy hauler we were awaiting the arrival of mom and dad Kehler. We had a fantastic time with them and I think they had a pretty good time hanging out with Anja. During this time we also developed some truck problems. We unfortunately used some bad oil and also received some bad diesel, thus causing some large issues with the injector pump and injectors. We were fortunate to find Mario and crew, the best diesel specialists in La Paz. During our time at La Pastora, Todos Santos we also had some changes with the hippy hauler crew. ... read more

Time at Punta Conejo has sadly drawn to a close. After a fantastic five weeks of fun in the sun. surfing, eating fresh fish and connecting with wonderful people, it was time for the crew to pack up camp and move on to the next destination. Thank you Roguer and chantelle for sharing this wonderful place with us. Chantelle now much more further along and Anja gaining inchs by the day, it was a time for much change. Now the crew is camped out on another beach, La Pastora about ten minutes drive outside Todos Santos and eagerly awaiting the arrival of Roguers Parents who will join the crew for a week. Much more words and photos to follow. ... read more

The sunrise at Fidels was spectacular and it was an early departure for Alejandros campground near the bahia de Santa Rosalita. An old surfing right point break, favorite of Roguers. The swell was not at it's best but the bay was tranquil and the scenery was beautiful. Few cactus, sand dunes that met the shore and palapas dotted the beach front. Relaxing for a few days and time to filter the remainder, days worth of oil. Meeting up with friends from BC and a few other fellow travelers. After a few days, on to San Ignacio an old mission settlement dating back a few hundred years. Baja can resemble the back drop to an old western movie, sometimes you expect to see Clint Eastwood come riding up over the hill. Making it in at dusk and ... read more

Sunny California, beaches, waves, and tracking down our oil supply. Emilie and Domingo got themselves a second hand surfboard each, Chantelle a surf paddle for bodysurfing and Roguer located a filter fabricator who is building the crew re-usable, cleanable filters. Emilie's first time to California and for Domingo fond childhood memories. The crew met up with friends from B.C. who will join u in the adventure into the Baja for the coming weeks. Everyone was stoked to see the ocean. For Emilie, Roguer and Domingo it was fantastic to paddle out and catch some waves together again. After a few days camping on the bluffs at Carlsbad, above the beach and waves. Collecting oil and shopping for last minute goodies it was time to move on to another country, Many warnings were told about Tijuana and ... read more

Moab is a town with a main street drawn through a landscape overflowing with red rock and magical blue sky. The whole crew was ecstatic for what they had found. Valleys diverting and emerging in many directions. Stunning staggering peaks leaving mesmerizing silhouettes in the star filled skies of dusk. It was the first stop that was about pleasure and relaxation. It wasn't a hunt for a fuel source or a filter. It was about having fun. Camping next to the Colorado River with boulders short walking distance away for everyone to play on and petroglyphs etched in canyon walls to discover. From Moab, Utah to the Grand Canyon, Arizona at sunset twilight the impressive immensity was not fully grasped until the next morning. Enormous canyons of layered walls of sediment tell their story. The mind ... read more

Many more nights in montana than we had expected. Facing challenges of filtration and finding oil. Roguer and Domingo made numerous attempts at different locations to resolve issues with he machinery and seek out oil. Long days with sometimes no resolution. We had difficulties with the lack of oil or ill quality of what we could find. After gathering minimal amounts of oil and filtering issues in the fridigity, it was slow moving from Billings, Bozeman and Butte. We decided to make a push for warmer temperatures with what oil we had and to briefly go back on to petro-diesel. Chantelle mentioned that we needed to find our flow and we should move on. Roguer said it would be easier to work on the filtrating system in the warmer temps. Not just for us but also ... read more

Regina, Saskatchewan. It was a time for family, friends, and finding filters. All the family was joyed to see us, excited for our journey and sad to see us go. The strangers we met were intrigued about our adventure and eager to help us out anyway they could. At times the generosity left us speechless. While the guys were on the hunt for the perfect filtration setup, Emilie aided Chantelle in her seemstress work, raising some funds and sharing Chantelle's fantastic fashions at a local craftfair. With donated machinery, filters and oil loaded up, time with family done, it was time to push on the next country.... read more

Though our filtration system was not yet fine tuned the guys wanted to get collecting used oil for our stock pile so they went ahead anyways with what filters they had. Almost 4 hours outside in the back alleys of downtown Regina they slowly pumped used oil from the collection bins during the first real snowfall of the season. Getting back after dark cold and wet they took the oil over to the neighbour's heated garage to warm up the oil for further filtration. They were up until 2:30 in the morning but they sure were proud of themselves when all was said and done. The next system will most definitely be more effecient and less time consuming. ... read more
