wow. i can't believe this! i will be on a plane headed for the US this time tomorrow. i am so incredibly exicted, but at the same time i almost can't believe that this trip has happened. i have so much to write on here, so many pictures to show, so many memories to share. however..... i don't exactly have the time right now. i need to finish up our final essay (yuck, what a way to spend my final day in mexico), visit some ceramic shops with the group, and start packing up. thank you guys for checking up on me while i have been abroad, i really appreciate so much that you have made efforts to stay in contact with me :).. it has made being away from home a much easier transition knowing ... read more

wow. i honestly can't believe this is my last day in cuernavaca! i knew i would need to value this week but i didn't expect it to FLY by. i've turned in my last essay, taken my last exam.. i actually don't have anything to do until my conversation group at 1, and all we do then is play a board game or something. then we have our graduation (and the group in the theater class does their play) and then home to la comida.. then perhaps taking some pictures, packing up, hopefully a quick cena (hehe) and then its off to a bus station to leave around 9 and drive all night (until about 5 am) to oaxaca. ¡qué triste! as i said, this week has flown by. i think a big reason this happened ... read more

holaaaa.. today has been weird, thinking about not being in the US on the fourth of july. i really like the fourth of july! and i have to miss it. well, not really. i still have the day, and we are going to celebrate at the group's theater professor's house.. (woo..) but man, i want a hot dog. i want a hot dog or a hamburger and chips and sweet tea and a picnic and fireworks and sparklers and stuff like that. but oh well. :) yesterday we decided to take another trip to the fayuca (i learned that's how its spelled).. and i am pretty certain that going to the fayuca is pretty similar to descending into hell. its crammed full of pirated cd's and clothes, lots of places where there's no more than 6 ... read more

so, to be completely honest with you guys, this has been an incredibly difficult trip. my heart has been thrown more punches than i can count. my emotions have been up and down the whole time, and i apologize to anyone i've closed off or exploded to. i never, ever, ever thought i would say these words, and truly mean them. but: i don't want to leave. seriously. i realized that it is my very last week in cuernavaca this morning as i was walking to class. nobody knew, until paco invited us to a barbeque at his house on friday, and i said i couldn't go because... i am leaving friday night. i honestly teared up. i am going to cry a lot. this trip has been one of the hardest things i have ever ... read more

suuuuch a fun night last night! :) we met leslee's friend that she met on tuesday at starbucks (he came up to her while she was reading and asked her if she liked to read - boys, remember that line) named ricardo, and his friend carlo at starbucks. can i just say that i love the mexican tradition of the semi cheek kiss kind of thing? i think its so cute. even though i am way awkward at it, i think ist fun. anyway. we all headed to the cine. it took us a long time to find a movie to see, and we planned to go see el farsante (which we had no idea what it was) instead of golpe de suerte (ha! we didn't know what that was, and thought about seeing it, until ... read more

¡hola chicos y chicas! hope you are all enjoying your wednesdays. mine has been interesting so far.. in a good way. (believe it or not!).. this week has been going along pretty well, had to get through some stuff but its really forced me to count on the Lord. its a pretty amazing feeling to be comforted by someone so big and so strong, but at the same time so loving. i think, since being in mexico, i have felt God's presence more frequently than ever before in my life. i've spent a lot of time this week not going out and doing things, and instead catching up on sleep and reading a lot. now that i've done that, i feel like i'm ready to go out and take advantage of the last week and a ... read more

¡hola! things have been going so very much better lately :) on friday, after school, i listened to an engage talk i had on my ipod (called "reminders of hope" if any of you FU kids have it) and it really made me flip my mind around. God's sent me here, to mexico, for a reason. its in his hands, and his plans, that i am here. so not being happy and willing to enjoy myself here is really hindering what he is trying to use me for. therefore! i made up my mind to enjoy myself. and since then, i really have :) friday night we did the usual meet in the centro at los arcos, hang out for a while, then head to la estación kinda thing. that night was our friend keisha's last ... read more

now, today, im at school again, took a test this morning, it was really easy. then my class and i watched wedding crashers .. YES! this weekend we are going to climb a pyramid at a place called teotihuacán, and maybe visit another place called tepoztlán. busy busy! at least once a day here, i am told that i look just like someone. its kind of unnerving. ive heard everything from a girl named grace to an actress on desperate housewives. it happened again about 5 minutes ago. i've successfully completed 3 weeks of class here! only 2 more left. crazy. having 2 weeks left, and having 5 weeks, like i did at the beginning, sounds so much different. when it gets to be july i think i will realize how little time i have left ... read more

last time i left off we were in the middle of mexico's soccer game. triste to say, but yes, we did lose. some girls in my class (melissa and anna) and i found it funny that we referred to mexico as "we".. but there's so much spirit about the world cup its pretty hard not to want to become a part of it :) okay so 'drop it like it's hot' is playing in the computer lab. i think that's okay with me. haha. so yesterday when we get home from school, leslee tells me that her pseudo theater teacher, rafa, (as in, her yoga instructor who comes to her theater class a few times a week to teach them how to be actors and how to breathe correctly and do weird things like pretend to ... read more
