Richard Frost

My name's Richard Frost and I'm a Manchester-based media freelancer who loves to travel.

In late 2012/early 2013, I spent 6 months in South America visiting Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Brazil. You can also read about my previous trip to China and south-east Asia, where I passed 5 months in Beijing, Hong Kong, Macau, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.

For non-travel stuff, I have a separate site where I blog about Chorlton, Manchester, SEO, PR and social media marketing.

Richard Frost - Manchester I'd forgotten how cold it gets in Manchester. Or maybe I just preferred not to remember. After 6 months living it up in South America, we've arrived back in the UK wholly unprepared for the ice-cold chill that greets us. But even though I'm shivering like no-one's business, at least I can comfort myself with the memory of being roasting hot on Copacabana beach. And even though I don't have a job anymore, and I'm crashing on friends' floors till we find somewhere to live, at least I can comfort myself with the memory of what we achieved. Like ... read more

Former dictator Dr Francia was so convinced everyone wanted to kill him that he slept in a different bed each night. He also rebuilt Asuncion in a grid system, destroying countless historic buildings along the way, to remove hiding places for would-be assassins. Ciudad del Este is known as the Supermarket of South America. This crazy border town is where Brazilians and Argentinians go to buy fake goods, gadgets and drugs on the cheap. They´ve lifted the Jules Rimet trophy on 2 occasions - 1930 and 1950. Impressions: Tourism in Uruguay is all about the coast.
