Well, our wonderful friend Miki invited Crystal, Fei and I to her cozy apartment to meet her mother a few weeks ago. It was a very long train ride to get there...but we had so much fun! Miki is one of the nicest girls in the whole world and so is her mom! Her mom even likes Japanese boy bands like the Kinki Kids and TM Revolution especially. She is so cool. When we got there we saw that here mom had prepared sooo much food including a traditional Oden stew that is eaten in the winter. For dessert, her mom had made a cheesecake from scratch and there was also ice cream with STRAWBERRIES! It was a lovely feast. After lunch we got to look at pictures of Miki when she was little which Miki ... read more

So I had to say goodbye to my wonderful one semester friends: Crystal, Dan, Kim, Davide and all you other Seminar House Two people I will miss you! Today I went to the Japanese Hospital. I have Strep Throat. Yuck. But I have to say that the hospital was very friendly and the doctors and nurses quite nice! Not at all like a scary American hospital. They gave me some medicine and said I should be better in the course of a few days. I am so happy to see the light at the end of the tunnel of this evil sickness. (and not because I wont recover! lol) Happy New Year everyone! Oh yes, and for any of my travelling friends on my travelblog list..please be safe especially if you are in Southeast Asia!!... read more

Well, this post is a little (a lot) late. Two holidays have passed since the last time I posted. Both Halloween and Thanksgiving are behind us! How quickly does the time go! Here is a brief summary on how I celebrated my American holidays in Japan. Halloween: A bunch of Gaijin dressed up and went to midnight Karaoke. I was a little girl in PJ's. It was a little scary walking around Makino area in pajamas and pigtails..a few of the ojiisan (old men) were looking at me a little too long *shudder* But the evening was so much fun. I have a couple pics stolen from Dave ^_^ A list of everyone's costumes: Becca- Reindeer Fei-Tigger Crystal-Sexy School Girl Jesse-Vampire Me-Little girl Angela-Minnie Mouse Marie-Dark Angel Dan, Dave, and everyone else without a costume- Ninja ... read more

Finally! Here are the pictures from the Danjiri festival I went to back in September. Danjiri are these big wooden floats carved by each neighborhood and pulled by the men of the neighborhood. These floats can get up to some high speeds and since someone rides on top it can be very dangerous!... read more

So a bunch of us went to this club in Osaka called "Sam and Dave III." It was totally Hip Hop and exactly like something you'd find at Myrtle Beach. There were many Japanese girls and many MANY American Marines! _ But a huge group of us had so much fun. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves........ read more

Well last night (or this morning?) was a blast! A bunch of us from both home stay and seminar house went to Kyoto and found the all you can eat pizza place. Now of course pizza in Japan is very different. It is always thin crust and they don't put tomato sauce on it. Also they have some interesting toppings like mayonaise, tuna, and corn... I tried the tuna pizza...but nah..I wasn't really into it so I ended up sticking to the hawaiian pizza which was fantastic. Afterward, we met up with Yohei and the boys for some serious karaoke at Shouen bowl. Nothing like hearing cute Japanese boys sing Slipknot and Usher's "Yeah." Oh some serious fun. My songs of the evening were: "Fighter"- Christina Aguilera "Fallin'"- Alicia Keys "Bring Me To Life"- Evanescence "Tuxedo ... read more

Soooo! Today was the ultra-scary KANJI midterm and I think.........................................................................................................I passed!!!!!!!! Yayness! Phew! Sorry, too much coffee and not enough sleep plus test stress =bouncing off the walls! Today's pictures are from a local theme park called Hirakata Park or "Hirapa." I've talked about it before in my e-mails but just to remind everyone it is the one with the the rip-off keebler elves. It was a really fantastic day! On to other news! Marko from Serbia has been teaching me Serbian and it is so much fun! He said to me "I have never seen someone not of my country speak my language." So of course this became a challenge to me. Yeah I know, I'm supposed to be studying Japanese only....but darnit I'm getting good at both! So... Here are some of the words ... read more
