Just a quick one.... uploading some photos from dinner last night at the Leela Palace - absolutely beautiful hotel, very expensive too.... Off to the national park tomorrow and will put a final entry in when I return. Leave here Saturday night and back in Melbourne on Sunday night - late... Gonna miss the food here, and I promise never to complain about melbourne traffic again!... read more

Well the Easter weekend came and went, no visit from the Easter bunny :-( Worked Saturday due to the day off on Thursday and so Sunday was the only day off. Went to Mysore Palace which is about a 3 hour drive out of Bangalore. The drive there was just as interesting as the palace! We were not able to take photo's inside the palace and despite our best efforts to sneak our camera's in we were thwarted by the metal detectors..... so off to the camera storage we went. Actually we werent trying to sneak photo's, just a little concerned at having to leave our cameras in a room! To enter the palace we also had to hand over our shoes and walk barefoot thru the palace. Happy Easter everyone... Big news here was the passing of Rajkumar, a very famous actor, on Wednesday. I was advised to leave the office a little early and go straight to the hotel and if I was to encounter any trouble on the way to call the manager here, Subbu. There had been reports of cars being set on fire and violence.... All the shops were closed and street sellers gone! Fortunately we only came across on road block and were able to get around it and to the hotel. The gates were locked and security posted. The body of Rajkumar was supposed to be on display at the Palace grounds near to my hotel, hence the heightened security, however due to the crowds they had to move to the cricket stadium. Just back from lunch - boy if I ever thought I was going to lose weight here I was so wrong. The food here is plentiful and very nice - very spicy tho'. Lunch was a multi course meal and I feel like I'm about to burst! probably everything will taste bland when I get back. Dined in the hotel restuarant last night and had the most wonderful chicken kebabs - at last a plate full of chicken. LOL. The hotel gym is far better than expected and I was finally able to train last night. Check out the photo's. The gym staff guy spotted me while I did bench and managed to push out 3 reps at 75kg before going back to concentrate on form. gotta get back to work - will update some more ... read more

After a four hour layover in Singapore - cruising the duty free shops..... arrived in India in the wee hours of the morning (according to Australian time it was 2am and by the time I hit the hotel it was 4am) So this was 10pm in India - absolute chaos, after getting thru immigration my driver spotted me thankfully, as there are so many people all trying to get you into their cars. I'm sure road laws are non existant, the dividing lines are just to look good as we spent much of the drive on the centre line, creating a third lane. Indicators are just an unnecessary accessory and they drive just a hare's breath away from the other cars on either side and in front. I had to close my eyes passing people on ... read more
