Well the Easter weekend came and went, no visit from the Easter bunny :-( Worked Saturday due to the day off on Thursday and so Sunday was the only day off. Went to Mysore Palace which is about a 3 hour drive out of Bangalore. The drive there was just as interesting as the palace! We were not able to take photo's inside the palace and despite our best efforts to sneak our camera's in we were thwarted by the metal detectors..... so off to the camera storage we went. Actually we werent trying to sneak photo's, just a little concerned at having to leave our cameras in a room! To enter the palace we also had to hand over our shoes and walk barefoot thru the palace. As we had already removed our shoes, the walk back to the camera store was rather 'hot footed' The marble flooring was quite 'soft' and so many shoes trampling thru would cause a great deal of damage... Outside we were able to take some photo's some of which I've uploaded....
Found a coffee house on the side of the road on the way back so had the driver stop and finally able
to get a decent latte and we stoppped further down the road again at a stall so that Bernard could buy a watermelon for just a few rupies - about one aussie dollar.
Lunch at a old palace building that has since been converted to a hotel - see photo's and then it was back on the road to Bangalore.
Classes this week are a lot heavier in content - so having to concentrate hard and learning heaps!! I'm getting rather a bad reputation in the class as I keep blowing the power board on - sparks fly and then everyone's laptops are running on battery - have managed to short out both sides of the table so far and blackened my power converter!!
Dinner last night at the Oberoi Hotel courtesy of the host BDE manager here - very fancy. Tried the local wine...... hmmmmm very nice.... very potent...
