Even to get two people who are face to face on the same page is difficult; try making international relations work between entire nations...such a daunting task.... Anyway. Hello! Glad to report that my health has been perfect for the last couple of days, and that has really allowed to me adjust, adapt, and enjoy! I had my first USAC class today, and we learned about the slave trade. Other lessons I have learned so far: 1. Don’t walk on the grass on campus! 2. do anything possible with your right hand. Do not give money or take food with your left hand! It is disrespectful. 3. Barter for anything being sold outdoors, especially taxi rides. 4. always always always watch where you are walking! The gutters here are [View Full Entry]

Hi! Well, today I feel pretty great. I managed to roll out of bed at a reasonable time, coat myself from head to toe in bug spray, and went off to wander the campus. The sun is out, and i overpaid for a banana this morning at the night market (which is open mostly during the day haha), and have been finding where my two scheduled classes will be so that when classes start (hopefully) next week, I can just sashay my way over to them. I even made my way over to the free internet room for international students, so [View Full Entry]

Hello!!!!!!! Well, what can I say????(Important:...on Thursday I should be able to buy a phone card or phone, and can finally make calls to my parents and perry! and from then on I will be able to have much more regular contact. The internet is painfully slow, but I have found an internet cafe within walking distance, and I will be updating again tomorrow...we have a scheduled dinner in a few minutes, so sadly I can not properly narrate my arrival into Ghana until tomorrow. But, honestly, I could have cried getting off the plane in the dark, out of homesickness, [View Full Entry]

Hello there! So 11 days left ‘til I leave for Ghana! Wow! So much to do in so little time. One of my goals was to set up this blog before I left, to make a sure fire way to keep family, friends, interested parties ha, informed on my trip. However, I’ve never blogged, so bare with me as I get into the groooove. The past two days I have been feeling slightly lightheaded, I think, from the malaria pills I have begun taking…fortunately, that seems to be the extent of my symptoms, since the bottle also says to be [View Full Entry]
