Thursday 6th Not enough sleep!! Had to get up early to get my flight. Thankfully had checked in yesterday, and was not too long a bag drop queue so an easy journey... If getting a flight Sydney Central YHA so easy as train station next door, then it's about 10 mins! $13 though, when it was only $4.20 return to Croydon yesterday! Had booked into Melbourne Metro YHA for 2 nights, and their recommendation was the Skybus Shuttle - $15 to the door! Monday 10th December 2007 Well, it's probably not the most original title for a travelblog, but you have to do it... Finally. The day I've been waiting for, the reason for the trip to Melbourne... Friday 7th Today is St Kilda day, so last night had got all my beach stuff ready, put my valuables away so I could run into the sea without worrying! 10ish am is a free shuttle bus to St Kilda's, offered by the YHA every Friday. Whilst I'm waiting for it I book my Neighbours Tour/Neighbours Trivia Night for Monday. Unclear why evening is $40 when it says $35, but she says it's because Dr Karl & band are playing... Hmm! Monday 3rd December Up warly enough to get the last dregs of breakfast, then to pack up and check out... I'm all set for the Sydney Central YHA. A couple of nights in a single room, what bliss to look forward to after a variety of dorms, swags, etc... Saturday 1st December I love these small airports - we arrived at the airport 1140, by 1210 we're boarding the plane... In the reputed 43 degrees heat. Get to see 'September' on the flight over (aboriginal/white issues 1968) - not my favourite film ever - all a bit 'atmospheric' and no big story line! Yes, they're talking about Western Australia! Monday 12th Ouch, 5am! One of my room-mates got up an hour earlier, the other hasn't come in yet! Quickly get ready, check-out and head for the MRT station which I understood started running at 530am. Not to the airport, that's 6am, but that's still early enough. Only takes half-hour (although had been told to expect up to an hour), and really enjoyable ride. Reclaim my Ez-Card costs, find the Skytrain, check in and head through security. Fremantle Saturday 24th Awake 9am, nearly the first - again trying to find everything in the dark and I didn't even leave it all ready today! By 10am nearly ready to leave, book my shuttle to the airport for Monday, check my destination before getting to the train station just in time for the train (there's one every 15 minutes so not that unusual) - $3.40 for a single (concession didn't seem to apply), 1/2 hour to Fremantle on a clean train which feels more like being on the Tube.
