FRIDAY 31 JULY No sooner had I got off my second long haul flight and 24 hours travel I was hurriedly making my way home to repack my bag for our Eurotrip! As soon as I got in the door I had a quick shower and then started packing my bag full of summer clothes before Rob burst through the door! In less than one hour we were on our way! We made our way onto the motorway and soon realised that we were definitely not going to make our ferry! The traffic was absolutely horrendous! We were preparing ourselves for [View Full Entry]

So we have both become quite slack...again...and now we have two mammoth trips to report on! On Saturday 18th April I woke at the crack of dawn to embark on my first tour on my own (it's Di!). As Rob had already been to Turkey during his last stay over here I really wanted to go, in particular to visit Gallipoli and pay my respects on Anzac Day. I got to Heathrow fairly early and checked in quicker than I ever have before, leaving me with two hours to twiddle my thumbs and get some caffiene and trash mags to read [View Full Entry]

So after the recent purchase of our new campervan we decided to hit the road for the Easter long weekend for some relaxing but essentially an extended test drive. We set out for Cornwall just after lunchtime and proceeded to get stuck on the lovely motorway which is the M3 for what seemed like an eternity. It wasn't until after we got off the M3 that it felt like we actually got into fifth gear! We decided that we would try and make quick tracks to Newquay. Along the way we named the van...His name is Dilbert! We finally made it [View Full Entry]

It felt that no sooner had we semi-settled back into a routine after saying goodbye to Jaimee and returning from Scotland, we were off again to Egypt for a couple of weeks! We boarded our flight to Cairo and all went smoothly and we arrived to beautiful balmy weather! We had some dramas initially after we disembarked the plane as we had to buy visas on arrival, we both attempted to get money out of the ATM and it declined for both of us. Luckily another of our cards worked and we got out enough money to get the visas and [View Full Entry]

After jumping on our train to Prague we sat down and began to settle in...before an inspector came up to us and asked for our tickets, I handed them over and he began speaking in a tone which, although I couldn't understand the language, didn't sound very pleasant! Thankfully somebody translated and alerted us to the fact that whilst we did have a ticket, apparently we needed a reservation for a seat as well! So we got evicted from our chairs and told to find a chair which wasn't reserved and thankfully for us further up the train there was several [View Full Entry]

After our trip to Budapest we had to really get down to business as we had just secured a new apartment in Shepherds Bush and were starting to make our arrangements for the move! The Edgware Road place had served its purpose for us and also given us credibility to apply for a new lease. We hired a car and early morning 24th October we got up (having packed everything into boxes) and Rob got the bus in to pick up the hire car whilst I began cleaning. Rob arrived back and we squashed everything we owned into the car before [View Full Entry]

Jaimee and I headed off early Saturday morning to Luton Airport to catch our flight to Berlin, which we literally almost missed. We arrived to Berlin in the early evening and were greeted with a temperature of around 0 - at which point we thought for the first time of many, "why are we backpacking in winter!?". We caught the metro to our hostel and settled in before being roped into the pub crawl. We had a really fun night and the next morning awoke a little worse for wear but we soldiered on went on a walking tour of Berlin. [View Full Entry]

After yet another train ride we arrived in Vienna. We were still feeling pretty worse for wear so we made our way to our hostel and checked in before going out for a quick look around. The next morning feeling rejuvenated we got up and spent the day sightseeing. I went to the Schonbrunn Palace and Belvedere Palace which were both beautiful inside. I then took a tram out to Grinzing which is just out of Vienna and spent some time there, it was only about 30 mins out of the city it was a beautiful village that was completely different [View Full Entry]
