Got a bus to our hostel ($20), checked in and went for breakfast at a trendy lil cafe around the corner (huuuge scrambled eggs on toast). We were staying in St. Kilda - the main trendy area of Melbourne apparently. Put some laundry on as everything staaank from the waterfights on the koh san! Bangkok - 12th April Arrived in Bangkok in the evening after a mission of a journey from Cambodia - upon waking up on the bus the windows were soaked and it was absolutely rammed outside with people and any and every form of soaking other people. It is the Thai new year and to celebrate they have a massive waterfight. We got off the bus, got our bags and legged it to the hostel. Managed to escape with only a few light touches of water this time. Checked in, had dinner, went on the net for a bit and called it [View Full Entry]

Phnom Penh

Asia » Cambodia » South » Phnom Penh
Phonm Penh 3rd April So we had to get a bus over the borders into Cambodia which was an interesting experience as soon as you get over it. All these kids with no arm or legs were all coming up to begging for money - was a bit hard to see and watch at times. Any we went over on this ferry after the border which was only a 10min crossing but again these people were on board harassing you. When we arrived at our destination in Phnom Penh we got a tuk tuk to lakeside - the place to be [View Full Entry]

Nah Trang

Asia » Vietnam » South Central Coast » Nha Trang
29th march: Just got off a 9 hour sleeper bus journey at about 6.30am and were exhausted. Walked to the main square where all the travellers stayed and found a decent place, decent price etc.. Only problem was that they didn't have a room available until 12 - so we had a 6 hour wait, but luckily they put us up in a 'dorm room' - top floor consisting of 3 bunk beds, until our room would be available. Empty room and we just slept til they woke us up at 10, asking if we would like to go to [View Full Entry]

Hoi An

Asia » Vietnam » South Central Coast » Hoi An
26th March Arrived in Hoi An about lunchtime after a better than expected nights sleep from such a journey. Had been recommended a hotel to stay in that overlooked the river and was a 2min walk from the centre - Huy Huang 1. Dropped our stuff off, checked in and went for some lunch as hadnt really eaten in about 20 hours. After lunch went for a walk through the market - the locals here were much more friendly than Hanoi, Market is huge, imagine Camden but twice as crowded, smelt worse (especially through the fish and meat counters) and piled [View Full Entry]

22nd March Si arrived about 4.30 and went looking for a place to stay (Rose Hostel) and have a wander til I got there. I had to get a total of 3 flights with about 3 hours leeway...eeeb. So, Heathrow to Vienna was fine, supposed to have a 40min wait for my connecting flight - turned into over an hour - so an hour less for my flight to Hanoi... All worked out alright in the end and flight from Bangkok was fine - how often does that happen! Got a minibus to the old quarter of Hanoi and met up [View Full Entry]
