Aaaaa-loha, Well my friends, it has been a long time since I last updated my blog; and a lot has happened. I think that this first update will be for our time in Oahu only. Jen and I left for Hawaii on the 11th of January, spent the night in LA and then arriving in Honolulu, Oahu on the 12th. Upon arriving we were greeted at the gate by a Hawaiian girl who had lei's for both of us (a little surprise I arranged for Jen). The first night we stayed in a hostel in Waikiki, a pretty fun place that [View Full Entry]

This is going to be a short blog; I need to leave for the airport in 15 minutes for my TRIP TO HAWAII WITH JEN!! YEE HAA. I am pretty excited about this. But I wanted to quickly add a little blog for my trip to the great city of Sterling, VA. I had a good time seeing whom I saw, and to everyone who I didn’t see...sorry, I only had a few days. Here are some pics. My next update will be from Hawaii (maybe I can convince jen to write a little next time). This was boring (sorry)...pics will [View Full Entry]

So New Years in Antigua was pretty amazing. The Guatemalans do it right (but extremely dangerously). Every kind of firework that you could imagine was on sale here, and for dirt cheap. I was like a kid in a candy store. Roman candles, Huge rockets, things that looked like dynamite, and anything else you could imagine! So I bought tons of fire works, and the worst champaign (sparkling wine) imaginable. We (a few friends from the hostel) headed down to the central park with 1000's of other people. The local kids would run through the streets with something similar to large [View Full Entry]

(this one should be short...not too much to report) So I left Utila a few days ago and spent a night in San Pedro Sula, where 4 days earlier 28 people where killed when a gang member took and AK-47 and unloaded on a local bus. But dont worry mom, things where much safer when I was there, they had officers stationed all over the place. From San Pedro, I caught an all day bus and ended up in Antigua Guatemala by night fall. Antigua is an absolutely amazing city. There are a ton of fun little restaurants and bars here. [View Full Entry]

Well I passed my scuba course, and I have to admit...scuba diving is a ton of fun!! It is totally like being in an aquarium, 10 times better then snorkling. That is basically all I have been doing since I got here...8 hours a day. Today I saw a turtle. I have a new perspecitive on them now; under the water they are so gracefull, they're just chilling, not like their buddies on the land! Christmas was fun, since the island is mostly tourist everyone just partied really hard here, I think I went to every single bar on the island [View Full Entry]

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas from the Bay Islands of Honduras!! I'm still in the Bay Islands getting certified for scuba diving. I'm feeling a little sick, and there is a whole chapter of the scuba diving book that basically says not to dive when your sick (mostly because of congestion making it difficult to equalize underwater) but I'm not feeling that bad, and I'm not congested at all...so I'm just going to go for it (don't worry mom, I won't push it). Yesterday I was in the classroom for 8 hours, today is the pool, and then [View Full Entry]

So I left the beautiful islands of Majagual, and hoped on a bus to Granada. I stayed at a really fun hostel and met a group of people that where all going to the lake islands of Ometephe, Nicaragua the next morning. So I explored the city, and then hit the bars/clubs that night. For some reason I still cannot dance in the Latin style….so I revert to my hip hop roots…which might look funny to everyone else since they are doing the salsa or whatever…but I’m having fun so who cares. Granada was a really nice city, and I probably [View Full Entry]

Well I am back from a few days at the nicest beach I have ever been too. I stayed at a place called “Camping Melinda” which is run by a middle age lady named Melinda and her husband. As you saw in the pictures from last week, it is just a few rooms and then a bunch of tents. You can get a room for $15 a night, a tent for $4 a night, or sling a hammock for $3. The first night I stayed in one of the tents and the pad that they provided smelled like bad B.O. So [View Full Entry]

I spent one night in a town called San Juan del Sor...pretty disapointing, but then the next morning I took a boat taxi to another beach called Majagual. ABSOLUTLY AMAZING, totally secluded white sand beach...hardly anyone there..palm trees, nice surfing, the works. So I’m hiking down the beach looking for a place to say and I come across this place called Camping Malida (the only house on the beach for as far as the eye can see). And basically it is a little camp area with tents to rent and hammock space. There are about 12 other people there so I [View Full Entry]

Right now I am sitting in an internet café in the small Costa Rican town of LaFortuna (north western part of the country) . I am going to spend a few days here and then head to Nicaragua. The town itself is in the shadow of a huge volcano (see pics...) it is actually quit beautiful here. I have taken 2 long bus rides to get back up to this part of the country...and i am going to have to take a lot more of these long bus rides (with no leg room) before I get up to Guatamala. A few [View Full Entry]
