Hey everyone! My trip to New Delhi was somewhat of a short one, and pretty unexciting (I didn't do too much...actually since I have been a little sick....i haven't been doing much at all...save reading, I'm going through like 3 books a week) but I will be returning, and will have plenty of time to get a better feel for Delhi. While I was there I took it easy, I was still recovering from what ever sickness I had picked up in Varanasi. Delhi was a large and busy city, but cleaner then Varanasi. I did some shopping, went to the Red Fort (see pics) and just kind of wandered around the city. One day I found a restaurant that had Air Condition (the first time I had experience AC since I was in Thailand)....what a ... read more

So this blog will be a little less about India, and a little more about traveling in general....I'm going to go off on a slight tangent..Since I haven’t got any comments from you fools, maybe I'm not being interesting enough...challenge excepted! Ok so last you heard I was just finished with my trek in Nepal to the Annapurna Base Camp. 2 days after that I took (multiple) hellish buses all the way to Varanasi, India. The bus ride was 23 HOURS long...and this was not a comfortable bus. Normally there are a few different types of buses. The best of the bunch are the VIP Tourist buses, and these are the ones that (in most countries) normally run the really long routes...23 hours for example) and they are kind of similar to a nicish bus at ... read more

(part 2) Each day we would hike from about 7am till 2pm. And every night I'd basically just read, and read and read. Then go to bed around 8:30. I truly cannot remember the last time that I went to bed at 8:30 on a regular basis...mom, any ideas? The first night out was probably the most eventful. We stayed at a tea house where a really drunk Nepali guy hung out...which actually ended up being a good thing because he got the "dance party" started. That night my guide (Jaya), the drunk guy, grandma (from the kitchen), a few other tourists, and a couple of the cooks all danced (to the same song over and over again) for hours and hours. It was pretty fun learning how to do the Nepal dance (i'll give a ... read more

Well everyone. I am back safe and sound. I didnt run into any Moaist...but I have to admit I was looking forward to a little action..oh well. So the trek; phew, where do I begin. The trek was a ten day "hike" up up up up up the Himalayan Mountains to the basecamp in the Annapurna Mountain range. I have never ever seen as many stairs has I have on this hike....i mean, things really got out of control. And it messes with you a little. For example. Sometimes, at home, during normal life, if you have to go up or down a flight of stairs, and are running a little late...or just want to get them over with you can hustle. you know, maybe skip a step each time or double time down the stairs....this ... read more

Well I am here....Nepal. Home of the largest mountain in the world...and it just happens to also be the home of the best street food i have ever come across....not that any of you fools know about this; but MOMO'S are the best. I dont really know how to describe them. They are cooked in a bamboo steamer kind of like dumplings (dim sum), they look like Chinese dumplings...kind of. Basically they are some sort of dough wrapped around some kind of meat (i think)...i have learned that it is better not to ask to many questions, especially if it tastes good and comes from the street. So you get these things by the dozen...and there are pretty big, come with all sorts of sauces...and are served in bowls made from dried leaves (very enviormentaly conscious). ... read more

After Luang Prabang, I headed (by bus) to a town called Vang Vieng...which as far as I am concerned is know for its RIVER TUBING...and to all my loyal readers at home...you fool's know how I love to go TUBING. I am telling you, the tubing here is at another level. We need to up our game up at home. So I have been traveling with these two German guys all though Laos, and they where with me on the rafting trip. So this is the way it works. You get a tube...get a ride up river and then just sit back and chill....or so you think. After about 5 MINUTES on the river you pass the first BEER LAO station. Now there are stations about every 5 minutes down there river....and each one out does ... read more

After a few days of the New Year’s celebration I was kind of done with! I mean....it was really fun at first...but when a country is having a holiday like that you really cannot do anything else! So I decided to head into Laos.....by the "Slow Boat". And it was AMAZING. There are times on my trip when I really feel like I am doing something amazing...times when I'm like "hey I am on the other side of the world", and this boat trip was one of those times. It took two days to get from the Thai - Laos border into Luang Prabang, and just about the whole time was spent on this boat. But it was really enjoyable (and I finished all 3 books I had been carrying around). I was even able to ... read more

Chang Mai and the Thai New Year celebration After a really enjoyable time in Bangkok, I decided to head up north to a city called Change Mai. Change Mai is known for its trekking to remote Thai villages, elephant rides, cooking classes, and other things of that sort. But my main reason for going was to celebrate the Thai New Year; which is also known as Songkran. Songkran is a Thai word which means "move" or "change place" as it is the day when the sun changes its position in the zodiac. It is also known as the "Water Festival" as people believe that water will wash away bad luck So basically what ends up happening is a HUGE CITY WIDE WATER FIGHT. And man, it sure is fun….or a day or two….when you are ready ... read more

Cambodia, the land where men tell you that you are handsome and strong, the women tell you they love you, and the children blow you kisses. I was only in Cambodia for a few days…just to see the temples of Angkur, but it has been one of the highlights of my trip. The temples are truly something unique! The whole time I was here it really felt surreal, like I wasn’t actually trampling around the ruins of Angkor Wat. I’ve seen this place on TV and in national geographic…but to actually be here…it was a feeling similar to the first time I saw the pyramids. Amazing! Basically all I did was tour the temples so I don’t really have that many stories…but I will say one thing…damn it was hot! Around the temples monks jus kind ... read more
