Last part of our trip :( Denver, Rocky Mountain National Park, Greeley Rodeo and Carnival, and Boulder. The last 5 days of our trip went out with a bang. We were missing Sydney and Liam and in the end, only 1256 miles straight home and one more night in a Walmart parking lot in Omaha Nebraska. For those who have never driven 26 hours in 2 days through eastern Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan, its a wonderful drive as long as you enjoy only farms, corn, cows, 95 degrees and 55 miles an hour on average. Our next stop is the mighty Grand Canyon, North rim (out of 5 million visitors to the park each year, 4,500,000 go to the popular south rim, but we hate crowds) Then it was off to Mesa Verde, (green table) where the Pueblo nation lived from 600 to 1200 A.D. (talk about burning the mortgage!) It was there were we met up with Cantor Sharlein's cousin who is a Law Enforcement Park Ranger (we need all the advantages we can get). Next stop, 350 miles uphill, Arches National Park, how bizarre a place! And from there Denver. The second portion of our trip begins heading into the Teton Mt. range that flows south right out of yellowstone. The amazing snow covered (yes still snow in late June) rocky cliffs that just shoot out of the ground. A day in Tenons hiking and boating and off to Jackson Wyoming and onward to a remote campground climbing up 10 miles of bumpy, cliff hanging dirt road, in the dark in the rain. Good thing we couldn't see the raging Hoback river overflowing down the mountain 3 ft. to our right. Then thru Salt Lake City Utah to southern Utah to a five star Walmart parking lot. Day 5 of our trip, Having an absolutely amazing time, surreal painted landscapes and interesting people. Internet service is limited in the 3500 square mile park so we now have some making up to do. The last three days in Yellowstone yielded these pics.... read more

Friday was a travel day, across Wisconsin & Minnesota...saw lots of farms & cows! Rolled into the Badlands at sunset...wow! Found a campsite with a great view, check out the photos Chloe took from our campsite of the horses! Next morning we got up @ 7am and hiked the "Notch Trail". 1 3/4 mile trail throught a canyon, up a step wood ladder to some great views. The rangers warn that it's not the anyone with a fear of heights & to watch out for the drop-offs...they aint joking! Got back on the road to Mt. Rushmore, did you know that it was named after a slick New York lawyer trying to get land rights to the gold in the Black Hills and asked the guide what the name of the mountain was called and the ... read more

Nippersink changed and not for the good :( Overgrown & empty, how sad. We boondocked in a Walmart parking lot somewhere in Wisconsin, drove through Minnesota and now cruising through South Dakota. We should get to the Badlands by 8pm Friday night.... read more
